Welcome to Ryan Malarkey's site. On March 6th, 2006 our sweet son was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer that is particularly aggressive.

BAND OF PARENTS funds neuroblastoma research at Sloan Kettering in NYC. An arsenal of NB treatments is needed and hopefully a cure. www.bandofparents.org

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's hard to believe we're on to a new year. Last night we gathered around the table at the Lake. Each person said what they liked best about 2008 - from Annie's puppies, to skiing, to karate, to just being able to spend time sharing a meal as a family. Little Henry said how happy he was that Ryan's scans were good all year. In fact, that was the main thing he asked for when he wrote letters to Santa. I would have to say Ryan's good health is our greatest blessing!

Speaking of Christmas, it was wonderful. We went to early church on Christmas Eve. Grandma Brenda joined us and it was a lovely candlelight service. After, we had a tasty candlelight dinner in the dining room, just the 4 of us.

Can you believe the boys let us sleep in Christmas morning? They were up at 7 and we didn't get up to 8am! We had fun opening gifts. Of course, the best gift was the Wii. The whole family loves bowling. Henry and Ryan do everything...boxing, golf, tennis - usually in only their boxer briefs at all times of the day! As a parent, I'm not sure when I should start insisting on clothes?!!

So whether you enjoy wearing clothes or not, have an awesome 2009! And if we've learned anything from this cancer journey, it's that life can throw you a curveball, so enjoy each day and each moment. Cherish your loved ones and run around in your underwear if it makes you happy!

If you're modest, you may want to call before you drop over!

MARK YOUR CALENDAR...FOURTH ANNUAL BRIAN S. SUCKOW MEMORIAL BLOOD DRIVE is on Martin Luther King Day on January 19 at the Frewsburg American Legion from 12-6pm. Please honor Brian by donating blood. More next post!

Love,

Kim, Henry, Herny 5, Ryan and Ginger

PS. Please say an extra prayer for all those families who lost a child to cancer this year. They have had to face the toughest of times and all the holiday festivities without their precious son or daughter. This is only a partial list of kid's sites I followed or met*, sadly I know their were many more...I pray God's peace and hope to shine through the tears.
