Aloha from Kona. It has been along time. Ruth has been very busy this summer paddling a six person canoe. She sits in seat one, with her life jacket of course. Most of the time Rebekah is steering the canoe in seat six. We have a couple of fundraisers besides the ongoing Lunch for Life Giving Tree for CNCF (Children's Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation). Funds for the Giving Tree goes to much needed neuroblastoma research. First our triathalete Aaron Wallen did qualify for the Ironman Championships here in Kona on October 11, 2008. Ruth has joined Aaron in raising funds for Make A Wish Hawaii, our local chapter of wish granter for seriously ill children. Here is the link you help Aaron reach his goal of $50,000 https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorreg/donorpledge.asp?ievent=263050&supID=181888639 Last year he raised almost $60,000 for Make a Wish Hawaii. Please pass on the link to all your contacts. Thank you for your support. This week Saturday, July 26, 2008 is the thrid annual Blogathon. This will be the third year Nikki has blogged about Ruth. She is raising funds for The Band of Parents. When Ruth and I travelled to Chicago for the annual CNCF conference last summer we had the opportunity to learn about MIBG and 3f8 treatments. Funds raised will go directly to further research for these cutting edge treatments and research for neuroblastoma. Ruth's time will be at 12:30 am. Here are the links: You can follow along during her fundraiser at: www.bloggingforkids.shebecameabutterfly.net To donate, please go here: http://www.change.org/myfundraising/BoPBlogathon To learn about the Band of Parents www.bandofparents.org Thank you so much for helping find a cure for neuroblastoma. Ruth is getting so excited to start first grade. Thomas has been training for football and can't wait for the season to start. Pre season games start next month. Rebekah is in her second week for 5 day a week training for the state canoe tournament. This past weekend she won two gold medals at the long distance regatta. Thank you for all your support and prayers. Aloha from Kona, The Mersburgh's
