Mi historia

In February of 2012 Rob Murphy was diagnosed with an extremely rare and very aggressive malignant tumor called an Intamal Sarcoma of the Superior Vena Cava.  By the time he was correctly diagnosed the cancer had metastasized to the surrounding veins and his lungs.  Rob has been undergoing chemotherapy and multiple surgeries at the University Clinic in Homburg, Germany.

Thanks for joining in the fight!

In early January of 2012 Rob began to experience symptoms similar to a cold or flu. He noticed he had trouble swallowing as his neck felt swollen and tight, it seemed to be getting better after a few days of extra sleep.  Then about a week later he traveled to Switzerland with the Boy Scouts and came back on Jan 16th in such severe pain and with shortness of breath that he was rushed to the ER where he was diagnosed with severe pneumonia. While he was on antibiotics for the pneumonia some of the earlier symptoms seemed to return (he was swollen and had trouble swallowing).  His recovery was taking much longer than it should. On Feb 1st the swelling became so severe that he went back to the Dr. They thought it might be an allergic reaction and put him on a high dose of steroids and antihistamine. The symptoms subsided for a day or two, but he was feeling more and more miserable and when the swelling returned on Sunday February 5th he made an appointment to go back in to the Dr. on Tuesday February 7th - where my caring bridge story will begin.

As of this post written on Feb. 8th, 2012, we're still waiting and looking for answers, but it seems as though all his symptoms starting from early January are related.
