So we are suppose in St. Louis right now, but we're not. Riley woke up at 2am this morning and was vomiting. After the big one, she then proceeded to throw up 5 or 6 more time - they were little. Of course, the first few times we would clean her up and get her in new pjs and then she would vomit again. We finally figured out that letting her go shirtless so it was an easy clean up was the best thing to do - who thinks clearly at 2am??? I slept beside Riley's bed on the floor - I use to love to camp, but my 35 year old body can't handle the floor any more! We all got up at 6:45am and Riley and I took a shower. At 8am, I called the radiology department at St. Louis Children's and because Riley was to be sedated, she could not have the MRI done because if she vomited while she was sedated, she could aspirate it into her lungs. So we are rescheduling hopefully for next week. At 11am we went to the pediatrician, Dr. Shannon, because Riley was still complaining about her ear hurting - she has had an ear infection since Saturday and been on antibiotics since Sunday - and her stomach hurting. Needless to say Dr. Shannon was surprised we were there since we just had Riley's pre-MRI physical on Monday. The ear had a few little bubbles of fluid on it so we got numbing drops for that, but the infection is going away. Dr. Shannon said the vomiting could be a stomach virus and the first 24 hours is vomiting with the second 24 hours being diarrhea. We still have our appointment with Dr. Gutmann and Dr. Hoekle, the ophthalmologist, tomorrow, so I'm hoping that the vomiting is just something Riley ate and not a stomach virus. If we miss Dr. Gutmann, we won't see him until the next MRI in three months as he only sees patients on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month and he is booked way in advance. So please send Riley no stomach virus thoughts so we can get to St. Louis tomorrow. Hugs of love, Andrea
On a helpful note, I have a document that has lots of information about medical deductions that our tax preparer put together. I also have a $30 off coupon for new H&R Block clients. Block also does this great thing called Second Look where they can go back a few years to double check your return to make sure you are getting all the deduction you should. Send me an email at work (acook@hrblock.com) and I will email both to you. I did email both documents to many of you today. Also if you know someone who just wants the coupon, please feel free to email me and I will send it along. The coupon is for everyone!
