Sitting here at the start of 2009 I knew there would be a time when I would stop writing in this journal..I anticipate this to be the last entry.
It has become increasingly harder to write in here. The time that has gone by has certainly NOT healed or relieved any of the pain we carry with us everyday. We as a family have tried to pick up the pieces and figure out just how to navigate in this life we know nothing about! Of course George and I deal with it so so differently, and the kids..well they are kids..Thank God for that!
We are..for the most part..surviving! I try hard to push the pain down far enough to function, George goes to work..kids at school, and I try to do things to keep myself busy..Not easy..the pain is never far behind!
I don't want this site to be one where I stop by tell everyone we are still in the same spot...I have been told over and over that this journey we are on is one that is endless. We will always long for her..always want to hold her one more time, hear her voice..wish things were different..
What I can hope and pray for this New Year is Peace for my family..and the guidance to help us along this winding road of grief.
For me coming to this site and reporting how Maddie was doing..hearing wonderful words of encouragment, and knowing there were hundreds if not thousands praying for us was...a blessing!
I want to Thank Everyone for caring for my family. For stopping in to check on Maddie and for continuing to keep us in your hearts through all of this. I truly have appreciated it!
We of course will continue with "Madison's Christmas Wish" every year...It is possible because of so many wonderful people....My Family, Friends, Employees at DuFrense Manufacturing, Ramsey County Retirement Services, McGough, Modern Heating and Air, Associated Eye Care, Rexam Beverage, Ramsey County Sheriffs, 3M, help this year from Miss Minnesota, and the many other outside families who have taken the time to donate to our cause. If I have left anyone out..Please for give me! This is a project we plan to continue and will ALWAYS need your help and support.
Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year! With Love,
The Hicks Family~ George, Brooke, Maddie, Mackenzie and Morgan
