Amen to all that you said! I believe it is so true, and am so proud and thankful to see what God has shown you all. We are told to consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds (James 1:2) because of what it develops in us. God works in it for our good (Romans 8:28) and it does not compare to what is coming (Romans 8:18).

I am so proud and thankful for how you are using this to spread deep truths of God's Word and encourage so many. God is powerfully at work through you. Keep shining for Him and leaning on Him for ALL of the powerful comfort and peace that you need.

AMEN!!!! So beyond true! Trey is FULLY free and experiencing a life that is far better than anything he would've ever had on Earth, and far better than anything we have now!!

It it is amazing to see how you all have persevered throughout the last year. It has all been through God sustaining you and His mighty grace and power...your attitude throughout it all has been so wonderful and inspiring and God-glorifying. You definitely have your heart set on eternity and His hope, rather than worldly things. This and perseverance are applauded constantly throughout the Bible...God's Word show how these grow you and give Him glory.

"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us." (Romans 5:3-5)

I fully believe that these verses, and numerous others about enduring in trials, have and still are in action in your family's life, Jeremy. I can see how you have, despite your intense pain, rejoiced in your suffering by the power of our Father..and how He has used it to develop perseverance, character, and hope. We have such hope in Him, and you KNOW that it doesn't put us to shame!!!!! That is so amazing!!

"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." (Colossians 1:9-14)

Paul was writing this to the Colossian church, as you well know, and I believe these verses hold true for all of us today as believers. You and your family have indeed been and are still "being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience" and it PLEASES Him!! And you are bearing fruit, I believe, and still giving joyful thanks to Him, despite the trials, just as He wants. And the best part is is that it is ALL from Him!! He qualified us, He rescued us, and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves!!!!

So proud of you all, and thankful to be able to keep up with you, it is a true blessing. Praying for you as you go through these next few days. Just keep totally leaning on The Lord for all comfort and peace...He's got you, and He always will have you.

That is so so wonderful!!! Praise The Lord!!!! He always provides so awesomely, and it is amazing how He uses us and even our pain to bless others and advance His Kingdom! That is truly what you all are doing here...bringing Him glory and providing for so many. It is such an amazing blessing to be able to do so.

"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” (Acts 20:35)

And you all are doing just that!!! God wants us to be generous and you all are indeed being so generous!!! Praise The Lord! I am thankful and proud for your giving hearts!

"And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us." (2 Corinthians 8:1-5)

You all are in the midst of a severe trial as you mourn for Trey...but God has used that to fill you all up with extreme generosity, just as He did for the Macedonian church!!!! So amazing how He works!! All glory to Him indeed!! I am so thankful this worked out and so proud of you all...you truly did submit to God first, and then continued to help His people and others!!

Also, as a side note, I believe God truly spoke through you with your encouraging post about His compassion and character last week...it was so true; definitely the Holy Spirit speaking truth through you!!!! Do not worry about posting a lot...it is wonderful and God is truly using it to touch me and so many others!

AMEN!!!!! So beautifully true...the Holy Spirit truly speaks through you, as I have said countless times. He certainly did today, that's for sure. I am so so thankful to see how you SEE this truth in your life, and I am even more thankful that it IS truth! For carries us, His power is made perfect in ANY and ALL of our weaknesses! He sustains us, upholds us, showers is with love, gives us hope...He gives us everything (James 1;17)!!! He is so faithful and true, just as His Name says (Revelation 19:11). It is so amazing! Truly, praise The Lord forever! He deserves it all and more!!!!! I am so proud of you and your family and thankful that, in these trying times, God DOES show up and provide His peace and comfort.

"I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore." (Psalm 121)

Praying for you all! So thankful that we have a God and Savior "who comforts us in all our troubles" (2 Corinthians 1:4) and is always there for us. He totally understands what you all are going through, considering His own sufferings...He tells us in Romans to "mourn with those who mourn" (Romans 12:15), so He obviously understands the grief that you all have gone and are going through. He is going to continue to uphold and sustain you all, just as He does in His mighty care every single day.

And I am just so thankful that we have an eternity to look forward to with these loved ones again!!!!! The rest of the world has no hope, but through Christ and His resurrection, we do!!! Cynthia, Toby, and Trey are all rejoicing with Jesus right now...they have much more peace, joy, satisfaction, happiness, and so much more than they ever could have had on Earth! And one day, somehow, all of us will be with them!!! Praise be to God for such a living hope!!

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls." (1 Peter 1:3-9)

God gave Toby, Trey, and Cynthia birth into this new hope, and He also gave all of us birth into this new hope!!! It can never spoil or fade...and even though you have had to suffer grief, you have received salvation and we will one day be with Him eternally and we will all, as well as Jesus, one day receive praise, glory, and honor when He is revealed!!! I am so proud and thankful to see how your faith IS truly genuine...you have endured through so much with the help of The Lord, and I have no doubt that He's so proud of you for that. He has definitely used and is using these trials to grow and mature you, and you are letting Him...it's just so wonderful. You all are definitely examples of being filled with inexpressible and glorious joy, through His mighty and saving power and grace!! You have received salvation and will see its full realization on that day that Jesus returns! Keep following Him and setting your mind on Him and this wonderful hope!!!

"Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”" (1 Peter 1:13-16)

As you go to kids camp this week, continue relying fully on God for all the strength that you need...and shine His truth and love into the lives of those kids! He has you there for a purpose, and I know that He will use you greatly! Love them deeply!

Such beautiful, true thoughts. Thank you so much for sharing and continuing to let Christ shine through you into this world!!! He truly lives and shines through you in so many unique ways, Jeremy, and one of them is on this site. So beautiful.

And I can only imagine how special occasions, especially one like this, have changed in your perspective. In some ways, I think God has brought good out of bad as He often does, because it deepens your appreciation for people like the men and women who lost their lives for our country. They are such strong servants and such blessings...I can never understand the full extent of their sacrifices, yet even to an ordinary citizen like me it still is so awe-inspiring. They truly show the love that Jesus talks about in John 15:13, just like Jesus showed that in a way that no one else ever could or will on the cross. I praise The Lord for those men and women!!!

And one day, because of Jesus's sacrifice and resurrection, we will be reunited with them if they knew Him, just like you pointed out. We should mourn and remember, yes...but we must fix our eyes on that blessed hope (Titus 2:13) that one day we will see our loved ones such as Trey and these people again!!!!! Praise the LORD for such a LIVING hope!!!!

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time." (1 Peter 1:3-5)

"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words." (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

Aw, I know this day must have been hard for you. But again, Trey is experiencing something much better and much more eternal than a 1st grade graduation, just as you know!! And those thoughts about watching him grow in the New Heaven and New Earth are beautiful...I even shared them with another family I keep up with on CaringBridge who happened to post a journal entry today; this family also lost their daughter to cancer about 7 months ago. Just wonderful that one day, no matter what, you WILL be reunited with Trey!! You will be with him again!!!! And we will all be together as the body of Christ, worshipping our glorious King!!!! Wow!!!! So amazing! It is a hope that is for SURE...and when we are with Him, all of the worries, illnesses, sins, and so many more bad things that are in this world will be gone forever!

"But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel." (Hebrews 12:22-24)

This is the beautiful hope that we have come to...and even more so, in many ways what we have to look forward to! How awesome!!!

"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”" (Hebrews 12:28-29)

Trey is definitely experiencing more joy than ever, moment after moment, second by second, in the presence of our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ!!!!!!! So fantastic that we have this hope to look forward to!

And that is so amazing about you running! So proud and thankful to have a man of God like you who uses his extreme trials to testify about Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!! So amazing, I know God is so proud of you and how you are truly running the true race!!! He will provide all of your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19)!!!

Also, one more verse I wanted to share:

"Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them." (Hebrews 11:16)

In Hebrews 11, it was discussing the faith of the people of the Old Testament and how they put that into action, and how their actions showed that they knew that this was not their home forever, and that something better was coming!!! And God was not ashamed to be their God! These verses make me think of you and your wonderful faith that God, in His grace, has given you. You are continuously looking forward to the kingdom of God and the eternal Home HE has prepared...and He is proud of you for that!!!!!! Keep growing and glorifying Jesus in everything you do, it is truly amazing how He shines through you! You definitely let your light shine!

A very special HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Trey!!! I look forward to that day in Heaven when I can finally meet this amazing child!!

And you are so right about sufferings. God uses those to mature  us(James 1:2-4) and develop that Godly character that He desires(Romans 5:3-5). These sufferings do not compare at all to the glory that will be revealed in us(Romans 8:18), and God makes us more than conquerors of all of them(Romans 8:31)! Trey is MORE than a conqueror of cancer and death, and NOTHING can separate him or us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord(Romans 8:35-39). God is so so awesome to graciously give us this victory over sin and death through Christ! How amazing!

Wow, what a wonderful post. Thank you so much for being so raw and honest with us; it really is a blessing and it is God using you and speaking through you. Even in all of this tragedy with Trey, He has and continues to use it for His glory and to touch others. A great, insightful post that was helpful time in some ways.

You truly are an amazing man of God, filled with the Holy Spirit, Jeremy. Jesus tells us to let our light shine for Him, and boy, you let it shine We all have weaknesses, especially when it comes to faith...but WE all have such am awesome Dad who loves us so much to be patient with is and give us mercy and grace to come out of those struggles as stronger people. He never leaves is not forsakes is, He is always with us. Always comforting us in our troubles and giving us that peace that surpasses understanding. That's something I know I need to remember more often.

Keep turning to Him and remembering that He sympathizes with any weaknesses you have, and He WILL help you!!

"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." So great!!! That is such a blessing from God that you can run for Trey! I know that He and Trey both are so proud of you!!! Trey did run a great race...and you are, too! And as God continues to work in you and prune you and purify you, you will run an even better one! Keep focusing on Him!

And referring to your earlier post, what awesome truth!!! If we are slice, God has a purpose for us here still!!! He loves us so much! God even still has a purpose for Trey, I believe, through using his wonderful, amazing story! We are children of such an amazing, awe-inspiring God!

"I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behindand straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Keep pressing on towards that wonderful, wonderful prize!!!

God continues to work through Trey and your family, I really needed to read this today and will come back and read this often. Recently lost someone who like you said "rocked me to my core" but reading this has helped and I'm sure when I'm struggling I will come back and read this again and again, Thank you

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." (Hebrews 4:14-16)

He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore." (Psalm 121)

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behindand straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:10-14)

Keep pressing on towards that wonderful, wonderful prize!!!
