Hi Everyone,
We did not do chemo as planned on Monday. We are going to be entering Philip into another trial next week instead. A spot opens up on Monday and we are elegible to start on Friday. He will be getting Lexatumumab which is a new antibody treatment. So far several sarcoma patients who received it have managed to stay stable for 7 months or longer. Deciding on a treatment has made it an extremely stressful week for both us. Hopefully we have made the right decision for Philip.
Philip has had a good week as this delay meant no needles this week! (except for a finger stick) He said this made him super happy! We still went in to the clinic 3 times this week but Philip was able to play while we spoke to the Dr's. He has been loving school with his teacher Ann Marie. She teaches the little kids as a group in the hospital every school day for a couple of hours and then 3 times a week she meets with Philip and his friend Owen for extra lessons. Class ends with a few hands of UNO and Philip is earning a reputation as a card shark. Philip has been keeping busy playing his new favorite game, spongebob life and playing on webkinz. He loves playing checkers and bathtub battles on there. Thank you to everyone that has sent him webkinz mail! He says he got some seeds in his mail and he has started a new garden as well. Thank you Donna and Samantha for sending the lion! Our room got a call at 8:30 last night about a package and he was so excited! He loves all his best friends (plushies) We went out today and he had to bring 4.
Next week in preparation for the trial Philip will get a PET scan and CT scan. We are not sure what day. He has not had one in awhile and this will be nervewracking for us. The first week will require a lot of blood work so we will be making trips in next Sat and Sun as well. For now we will try and have lots of fun this weekend.
