Pete took a sudden turn for the worse about three weeks ago and  passed away early this morning.  As you all know, Pete tirelessly campaigned to remove restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research.  When President Obama signed an executive order to that end in a White House ceremony on March 9, 2009, Pete and I were among the President’s guests.  It was just a few days later that he took a turn for the worse.

The funeral will be held April 6th, 11:00 AM, at Cornerstone Church located at 16010 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD.  (web address is www.cag.org )  A life celebration will be held at the Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Annapolis, MD from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, April 5th. (web address is www.fhnfuneralhome.com )

Pete’s ashes will be scattered at his beachfront sanctuary, Oak Island, NC.
