Paxten Mitchell's Journal
Written Sep 12, 2013 10:16amIts been awhile since I've posted. What would have been your 9th birthday has came and gone. We all continue to think about you often. Especially little Ari. She will just randomly start singing a song about you, and almost start to cry several times during the song. I think she is starting to realize how much she has missed out on. Levi favors you a bunch. Sometimes I misspeak and will call him by your name. Momma is having hip surgery Oct. 1, she's had a rough time since you have been gone. We miss you little man, but I'll see you again.
Love your Da.
St. Baldricks in honor of Paxten will be Oct. 26 @ wild wing in Asheville. Mrs. Angie Bell has put together 2nd St. Baldricks event in honor of you. If anyone is in Asheville please stop by and support finding a cure for childhood cancer. I have been growing my hair out for 3 months now and will be a shavee (looking like grizzly Adams). The link below is to my page if anyone would like to donate. 5,10,20 dollars whatever you can do. Every little bit helps. St. Baldricks focuses on finding a cure, so other families and children don't have to go through such a life altering experience.

Its been quite a while since I have updated. Another year has come and gone. Ari is turning into a beautiful young lady, and Levi looks like you but is alot more mischevious. Mamaw and Papaw are in town for the new year, to be here when Mama gets her hardware out of her knee on the 2nd.
This year has had many trials, mostly physical injuries. Nothing comparing to scars on the soul. We missed you on Christmas as we always do, and a new year somehow seems hopeful yet there is always an emptiness in some corner of my being. Ari wanted me to tell me a story about you, so I told her how muched you loved her and told stories to indicate this. She asked then "why do kids get sick". I gave some answer that didnt make any sense, because honestly I dont know the answer. I know that Mama and I think of you often, with fondness, and good memories of you. It just really sucks though..... It sucks that you had to suffer through everything, it sucks that there are sooo many what ifs. Its like several chapters of a book have been left blank. And it was the most beautiful story you have ever read. If you would thank God for me. For you, for the fond memories of you, for Amy, Ari, Levi, and good friends and family. I love you Paxman.
Happy 8th Birthday

Paxten Happy Birthday! Today, Paxten was given to us by the Lord our father. He would have been 8 years of age.
Last year had its ups and downs. Little Levi is the spitting image of you with a touch darker complexion. Ari has grown into a beautiful young lady. Momma was getting along good and then had an accident and had to have surgery. Mamaw, grandma and the papaw's are all doing well. It still seems strange that we had you on this earth less time that you've been gone. A friend from the fire department has set up a St. Baldrick's event in honor of you at
AFD station 10 on Sept. 22. If anyone is interested in participating or donating to helping find a cure for pediatric cancer in honor of little Paxman the website is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Asheville-St-Baldricks-Fundraiser-AFD-Station-10/266517186793982 .
Anywho I really dont have to much to say today:( If you would just pray for me and amy for joy today and for the days to come. For Ari and Levi for never having the opportunity to know how special he was, and for all the other families out there that have endured hardships that change the fabric of there beliefs and existence.
(Love you Pax)
