My Story

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday,  January 11, 2013, at St. Peter Church, 359 New York Avenue,  DeLand, Florida 32720.

We appreciate your support, prayers, and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

In late November, Paunny entered the hospital and was diagnosed with brain cancer.

One of our first blessings was that she was released from the hospital in time for us to have our traditional Thanksgiving dinner together.

After the holiday, Paunny underwent brain surgery to help alleviate her immediate symptoms. Further tests revealed that the tumors were inoperable.

After surgery, many tests, and a stay in rehab, Paunny made the courageous decision to forego additional chemotherapy and radiation treatments and return to her home.

With the help of two very caring home companions, family, and friends, Paunny was able to be in her home to recuperate from surgery and finalize the sale of her business.

Once again, we were blessed to be able to celebrate Christmas all together at "grandma's house."

After Christmas, Paunny's symptoms became more than could be handled at home, and she made another courageous decision to enter Hospice care.

She peacefully passed away on Friday, January 4.  Her strong faith  helped her with acceptance and she was ready to join her parents, two sisters, and her brother and be with God.
