Once upon a time there was a crooked tree and a straight tree. And they grew next to each other. And every day the straight tree would look at the crooked tree and he would say, "You're crooked. You've always been crooked, and you'll continue to be crooked. But look at me! Look at me!" said the straight tree. He said, "I'm tall and I'm straight." And then one day the lumberjacks came into the forest and looked around, and the manager in charge said, "Cut down all the straight trees." And that crooked tree is still there to this day, growing strong and growing strange. The End.

Here's to always being strange, but never being stangers! See ya soon Pack. Peace.

Hi, Patrick!  I was tested to be a donor for you about a year and a half ago.  I made it past the initial tests to the point where I had additional bloodwork done and was contacted by someone from the transplant team.  I don't know you personally, (found you on FB from a mutual friend) but your story has touched me.  My sons are 14 and 17, and I can not imagine them in your situation.  I was deemed to be a good match for you, but was told there was someone better.  Fair enough, I thought.  However, I see you are still searching for your kidney.  I want to help.  I would be willing and honored to do the paired donation thing for you.  The transplant team should still have all of my records on file.  Please let me know what additional steps I can take to help ensure this happens for you, and I get on that list.  I will give my kidney to anyone, so long as you get one in return.  The best way to get in contact with me is through my work email:  kari.r.heimer@wellsfargo.com

Hello Patrick, my name is Kevin, and after reading your story I was really touched. Just 10 minutes ago I called, gave my information, and a packet is on the way for me to get tested so that I may be able to donate for you. I will pray for you buddy.

I just finished reading your lastest entry. I think of you guys often and keep hoping that Patrick's special gift of a kidney will come true. I will continue to keep you in my prayers and spreading the word. I put more flyers in Wisconsin the last time I was down there. I tell your story and just pray that someone will call. God bless and have a very Merry CHRISTmas and Happy New Year.

    Patrick and Family,
Just wanted you to know that your story is spreading.  I'm from Dodgeville Wisconsin.  My Daughter (Age 15) just had a liver transplant on June 10, 2010 so I can truly relate to your story.  Sounds like you have a lot of courage and strength.  I just called the U of M and they are sending me out a packet to be tested.  Hang in there and stay strong.  I will keep praying and spread the news about your story.

I have no idea if you'll see this message since there haven't been any updates here for a month or so.  I work with the online group www.lovequilts.org, and we would love to send Patrick one of our quilts.  I'll be emailing you today with a picture of a quilt I have in mind for Patrick.  If you don't receive that but see this message at some time, PLEASE feel free to contact me.
