Patrick’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We've created it to keep friends and family updated about Patrick.

This is Patrick's little piece of the "net."  We will keep you updated as we battle this vicious cancer known as Neuroblastoma.  Please walk with us and keep us in your prayers!

On Tuesday, January 19, 2010, our world was turned upside down with some of the worst words a parent can hear; "Patrick has a large abdominal mass. . . " We have been in a whirlwind since. Patrick, Mommy, and Daddy are reporting to St. Jude Children's Research Center on Sunday, January 24. We will update you as we travel this journey.

Going to Memphis

Patrick and I are at a gas station in Hammond right now. I had to fix something with the tail lights that affects cruise control. My van is weird that way. Patrick is sleeping. Mike and Thomas are both in school. Mimi (Mike's mom - Liz) is going to stay with my other three boys (hubby, son, and dog) while I bring the itty bitty for his semi-annual scans. Grandma & Paw-Paw will meet us in Memphis. They are visiting dear friends in Arkansas.

As always, life is hectic. Mike and I have both recently had job interviews and are waiting to be called regarding second interviews. I will share more about that later.

Please keep us in your prayers. I could really use them right now due to my "scanxiety." I have no reason to think his scans won't be clear, but more prayers are always a good thing. I do, however, think the leg length discrepancy has worsened. Please pray that his right leg will be healed from the radiation damage and start growing again. Also, Patrick has a cough. He saw his pediatrician yesterday and his lungs were clear. Please pray they stay that way so that we can get all of his scans done in one visit. Also, if you don't mind, pray for my cough to go away, too. Thank you.

Well, I better get going. I don't reckon this van is going to drive itself to Memphis. Thank you for your continued support and prayers.

Love,

Shannon

Traveling mercies for you trip, Shannon. Praying for your safety and a calm spirit, for a satisfying outcome of all Patrick's test, for the perfect functioning of your van, and for all three of your "boys" at home. You continue to amaze and inspire me in so many ways.
