My Story

My name is Patrick and I am 5 years old. I am a big fan of WWE wrestling, The Yankees, Giants, and The NY Rangers. I love to spend time with my friends and family.... especially my Dad. I am in Kindergarten and think school is awsome !

Just before my second birthday I was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia). I recently finished 3 1/2 years of Chemotherapy and am doing great.

Hello everyone, it’s been so long since I have even looked at this site. Life has been busy. So many great things have happened in our lives these past few years. Well, lets see… in a nut shell....we bought a new house, Patrick finished up treatment, oh, and three weeks later Patrick became a big brother. Yup....we had another baby..... a precious little angel named Madelyn. I was due Nov 2, 2008, but she did not want to wait until then. She made her grand entrance into the world over two months early, on August 31st, 2008 weighing in at just 2 lbs 15 oz.! Oh, and did I mention Patrick’s first day of Kindergarten was two days later! lol! I had to beg the doctor to let me out early (with a c-section the stay in the hospital is at least three days). As hard as it was to leave Madelyn there, Michael picked me up early that morning and I made it home in time. A little doped up from the percocets and still wearing my hospital bracelets, I was able to slowly get out of the car and make my way down the walkway to his school. Thank god, I would have felt horrible if I missed his first day. Madelyn spent the next 5 weeks in the NICU, before they let her come home. That was about three months ago. She is now a happy, thriving, cute little 9 pounder with one of the best big brothers in the world. :) Not sure what’s with my kids and all the drama, lol! but I like to think she came early just in case Patrick needed her. We of course banked her cord blood for him, but hopefully he will never need it.

As for Patrick, he has been off of treatment for a little over 5 months now and so far so good.J. We go back to the clinic once a month for blood work. I am thrilled to say there have been no signs of the leukemia in his blood. They say if he were to relapse, it would most likely be within the first year off of chemo. So, I guess we have about 7 more months before we can relax a little.

Right now my life is perfect. I love Michael and the kids more than I could ever explain. I feel so complete. I look back at the past few years and it still seems so unreal. Well, I guess there is an upside …..Here is ours: We now appreciate every day that we have with each other, and in our time of need, we realized how many wonderful people we are blessed to have in our life. This is my finally journal entry……..it’s time for us to start to put this all behind us and finally enjoy this wonderful life.

It has been a long road. Thanks to all of you who have been there for us every step of the way.
