The Latest from Andrea
Written Apr 26, 2013 12:00pm by Glee HotchkinHello from the Parkes family! Allen came home on Monday afternoon. He has been resting, healing and trying to gain his strength back. His recovery is going well. The kids are so happy to have their daddy back home. Over the course of the next few weeks we have follow up appts with Allen's doctors to monitor his recovery and discuss what the next protocol will be. Love, the Parkes Fam
Good news from the front!
Written Apr 21, 2013 11:15am by Glee HotchkinAs many of you know, Allen underwent his fifth surgery to remove tumor tissue on Friday, April 19. The following are updates sent by Andrea during and after the operation.
During and after surgery, Dr. Carter updated Andrea. At 2:39 p.m. 4/19/13, she texted: He believes he got a good majority of the tumor tissue. He is very happy with the surgery. He believes recovery should go well.
At 6:25 p.m. 4/19/13: Allen is now in ICU. His recovery was a little longer than in the past, but is doing really good given the circumstances. He will be in ICU for at least 24 hrs. They removed tumor tissue measuring approx 3.5 cm. We won't know for awhile if there are any side effects from the surgery for at least a few days. Our love to you all!! And THANK YOU for continuing to keep Allen and our family in your thoughts and prayers!!
At 8:49 p.m. 4/20/13: Good evening all. Allen is doing really well. He was transferred out of ICU this evening and even walked to his new room. His pain is under control and he has a great appetite. Not sure when they will discharge him, at the rate he is going it may be as soon as Monday evening. I will continue to keep you updated. Thank you again for all your wonderful thoughts and prayers! Love to everyone!
Andrea has authorized me to post updates and I will continue to do so frequently. When we began this journey, I opened this CaringBridge site to try to spare them the burden of keeping everyone informed. As soon as he was able after the first surgery, Allen insisted on taking over. And I'm sure as soon as he is able, he'll be taking charge again. Meanwhile, I can assure you all your words of encouragement and prayers and well wishes have contributed greatly to keeping the family going. They are absolutely amazing people and certainly deserve all the love that is coming their way.
Thank you, Glee Hotchkin
