Put this in your back pocket
Written May 18, 2011 8:28am by Glee HotchkinSince this began, I have been given 4 success stories from friends and family. These are real people who know real people. Thank you for the encouragement, you know who you are. I expect many more success stories via treatment and support groups etc, but there is something to be said for having tangible reality to think about. I would like to offer each of you, me, as your own personal success story to pass onto anyone that may appear in your future with GBM (hopefully never). Put this in your back pocket and drop it on them like it's a walk in the park: "I know this guy who has been fighting that same thing for 15 years, he didn't think twice, and never looked back".
Written May 16, 2011 10:28am by Glee HotchkinA great friend of mine, Greg Bouchard recently recommended a book to me. I have always suspected that he was much smarter than I am, but this certainly confirms it. I have been working through it as slowly as possible to absord and understand it as deeply as possible. In doing so, many close friends and family members have come into my mind who I know would benefit from this book. For this reason, I would like to recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Whether you believe that you are well grounded spiritually, mentally, physically, etc., you will benefit from this read. Please approach it with an open mind and positive attitude as I am and you will see what I mean. The book is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. The joke may be on me since almost everyone I have spoken to so far have either already read it, or are familiar with Tolle. If that is the case for you, a refresher may be in order. There are follow on books from Tolle, but I am working through a long list of other great recommendations and will get there eventually. I welcome any feedback or additional recommendations from everyone. Hope you enjoy it..ap

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr Rahn III, Dr Lawson, Dr Kesari and others involved. They also took time to review the post-operative MRI image data with incredibly clean results...Thank you Dr Barba! Meticulous care, time and effort were provided to educate us for what we are in for. I can tell you that we have a sense of relief as a result and that the outlook for treatment is good. I have a couple of weeks of healing to go before it begins so I will enjoy a little more rest and recovery before we get started. Andrea has been working diligently to arrange all of the preliminary steps so organization is underway. Treatment will be a combination of chemo and radiation over a period of 6 weeks straight followed by an additional treatment schedule. We are researching clinical study options for potential supplemental treatments as well to maximize the benefits. All indications are that side effects will be minimal and I will be able to maintain a somewhat normal life with my family throughout this process. This was reassuring to hear and I am so thankful. I just wanted to once again thank everyone for all of the support that we are getting. Keep it coming! It is appreciated more than words can say!
