Andrew’s Story

Site created on June 13, 2018

On June 5th, Andrew, as he was doing what he loves to do, took a batted ball to his head. Children's Liberty stabilized him and then he was flown by Air Care to Children's.  He went from ICU to Neuro stepdown over 5 days.  He is now home and has a journey ahead of him as he endures therapy to regain full speech.  Not the way he wanted to spend his summer but we are thankful to God and the medical team for the hope we have in his full restoration!  Thank you to all friends, family, baseball family and fire family for all the support and prayers you have provided.  Keep the prayers alive!  Now go gettem #14.  No One Better!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jeff Edrington

Sorry for the delay in getting an update out.  Andrew is still doing good overall.  Speech is a continual battle but he's moving forward.  Thanks for all the visitors as this gets him to covers a lot more than just repeating words back to us.  Anyone is welcome at anytime.

We had all of his follow up appts. this past week.  Per the CT Scan, the bleeding has stopped and is still being reabsorbed back into the brain.  The swelling is also starting to fade away.  The big problem now is that there is major bruising on the brain which hopefully will subside with time.  They believe this is what is causing the speech and memory difficulties at this time.  We are still praying for a full recovery by the start of the school year.

We would like to thank everyone who has bought the wristbands.  We are overwhelmed with all the support.  Please let me know if you need anymore.  Also, please pass them on to others as we try to keep the fundraiser going.  We will be donating to Children's Hospital and also buying protective poitcher helmets for local baseball teams.  If your team would like to be involved or be a recipient of these helmets please let me know.

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, texts, calls and visitors.  Thanks for thinking of us as we love each and everyone of you.  Andrew is missing his baseball team Fury and wishes them all the luck in Florida.  Till next time,
