My Story

Hi! My name is Nicolas! My mom and her friend are using this web site to let everyone know how I am doing. I have this bad disease. It's called Severe Aplastic Anemia. All I know is I feel yucky and I have to get lots of pinchers. That's what I call shots. Someday, I am just going to be a normal boy again! I can't wait!

Dear Friends and Family,

I am happy to let you all know that Nicolas had surgery this morning to remove his med port that was used to give his chemo and IV medications. He wasn't very excited about now getting blood drawn from his arm, but I tried to explain that he didn't need his port anymore because he's better. He will only have to see the doctor and get blood drawn for testing every 3 months. Hooray for the "CHAMP" ! We are finally on the road to recovery.

Good news also is that I have started a full time job at Sutter Regional Medical Foundation in Fairfield, CA and we will hopefully be moving out of Oakland as soon as Nicolas finishes his school semester. We are looking for an apartment closer to Fairfield. I would like to move to the Benicia area so we are not too far from his doctors in the event he'll need further treatment (I pray not). I will keep you all updated with his progress. He has been through so much, but he is a fighter. So now, we continue to live each day to the fullest and not dwell on the "what if..."

Thanking you all again for your love and prayers, as you can see, our prayers have been answered.

Love always, Christine and Nicolas
