History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats. ~Bertie C. Forbes

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!! Today I give a gift to moms and dads. Spend uninterrupted, quality time with your children. Listen to them, play with them, just hold them in your arms. Tell them you love them and that you will always love them, no matter what. Appreciate that they are entitled to have a bad day, be worried about things that are big to them, yet small to us. Let them have chocolate cake for breakfast! These things that we do for our kids are priceless. More than any gift we can buy. All they want is a part of us, our time and love. That is the best gift we can give or receive.

Nick’s hair is starting to come out. I noticed it on his pillow yesterday. It’s not as traumatic as the first time since we expected it, but it still is a reminder of all the chemo drugs he’s had to endure. He’s pale this morning and needs more platelets. Another night of ups and downs and his mouth sores are more prominent this morning. He’s still groggy and slow to rise this morning at 10:30. We did watch a movie last night. I snuggled in his bed with him, No popcorn, but it was still great! I treated myself to a cobblestone from Panera this morning for breakfast. Sugar overload!!! I picked up my treats yesterday while I ran errands. Today we will spend together, maybe watching the other movie I picked up. I know Nick is concerned about his school work since he hasn’t felt like doing it the last few days. I have laundry stockpiled since the washer/dryer in the Ronald McDonald room is out of commission, so I’m getting down to the bottom of the barrel! I will have to find a Laundromat soon or I’ll be wearing Nick’s clothes.

I am thankful for the well wishes I’ve received from family and friends today for Mother’s Day. I loved the journal entries from the Fiaschetti family and Amber Burns. I am so blessed today to celebrate with Nick!
