Nick was 9 when diagnosed with a low grade pilocytic astrocytoma in April 2006. He had surgery to remove the brain tumor in April & an MRI in June revealed that the tumor was already growing back.

He finished 6 weeks of daily radiation on August 3rd & chemotherapy started September 20th.

This week on Monday and today Nick went in for blood counts. His platelets have rebounded high enough to play safely but his ANC is still lagging below the required 500 to go in the general public without a mask.

I pulled him yesterday in order to start his antibiotic early in hopes of keeping him safe from a bacterial infection that is going around school. This is the most dangerous thing since low ANC is the count that tells us what he has in order to fight an infection such as that. (He doesn't have enough to fight it if he gets it.) Needless to say, I can't keep him out of school everyday and there's less than a month left.

I will be so happy for school to be over for those reasons, however then we have to figure out where the kids will be for the summer days coming up. Camps are only so many weeks and only for certain kids each week.

Anyway, their sports are keeping them well occupied for now and when I come up to breathe from all of this, we'll make a decision.

Long chemo for Nick starts again the week after next. We're hoping to get a break and counts to come up fully by then also. Keep praying and thank you for your support!
