Hi everyone,

Our family wanted to provide you with an update about what has been happening over the past six months.

First and foremost, we would like to thank you for your incredible support that you have given us during this difficult time.  We cannot tell you how much it has meant to us and how much it has helped us.  So, thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

Second, we would like to thank Hersheypark for their incredible generosity.  While Nick was in the hospital, they came to record his voice to be played on the Wildcat, Great Bear, Lightning Racer, and Wild Mouse roller coasters.  If you went to the park this summer, Nick’s voice sent you off on your ride and welcomed you back.  Hershey Park also planted a tree and created a plaque outside the Wildcat in honor of Nick.  In case you weren’t able to see it at the park this summer, the plaque reads, “All right riders, are you ready for some fun? It’s Wildcat time in 3, 2, 1! Watching over its riders with care, Nick Pantalone, our friend and coworker that left us much too soon.”  We celebrated both his birthday and the end of summer at Hershey Park and we know Nick was there with us riding the rollercoasters. You can see a picture of the plaque in "photos."

Another exciting happening that you may have heard about is the Charlie Project.  Nick’s good friend Taylor Saraiva wanted to honor Nick’s memory through training a therapy dog.  She named him Charlie after Nick’s role as Charlie in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.   We have watched Charlie grow before our eyes from a little puppy into a nearly full-grown (and incredibly well behaved!) dog.  You can learn more about the Charlie Project here:

A few months ago, members of the THON Family Relations Committee came to our house to film our family and to learn more about Nick.  The video is now up on the THON YouTube channel can be viewed here:

Speaking of THON, Rachel and Danielle are finalists to run in the Hope Express.  The Hope Express is a 135 mile run over 24 hours that starts at the Hershey Medical Center and finishes at Penn State during the weekend of THON. Over the course of 24 hours, each team member will run about 10 miles for the Hope Express. As finalists, Danielle and Rachel will be chosen based on several different areas including fundraising. They have until the end of October to raise as much money as they can for the Four Diamonds Fund.

As you know, Nick was heavily involved with THON and the girls want to continue our family’s involvement. Words cannot describe how comforting it was that our family had the Four Diamonds in our corner during Nick's three year battle with cancer. This is their small way of giving back to an organization that has provided so much for us and other families fighting pediatric cancer. They are doing this in memory of Nick and For The Kids.

The Hope Express' mission is to increase awareness about the Four Diamonds. Therefore, even the smallest donation goes a long way in spreading the word about this amazing organization. The links to Danielle's and Rachel's fundraising pages are below:

Finally, our family is working on putting together a book based on Nick’s Caringbridge entries.  We will keep you updated as this project develops.

Thank you again for all of your love and support during this time and for carrying on Nick’s memory with us.  We are so grateful for you.
