Well it has been a long few weeks and I wish we had better news to share. My dad has been really sick the last few weeks and after a lot of testing was diagnosed with a tumor in his gallbladder on Tuesday and on Wednesday the doctor told him it was cancerous. He goes in for a tumor resection on Monday (Nov. 26) and we were told he may be out of hospital in time for Christmas, if not they will give us a pass for a few days so he can enjoy it as much as possible. The doctor told us that right now the cancer isnt our biggest worry, our biggest worry is him making it through surgery. They know his gallbladder and the lympnodes around it have to be removed but they will also be checking other places for spread (his liver is the big one) and depending on what they find will his surgery will be 5+ hours long. Since he is 66yrs old and in not so great shape right now they dont know how his body will handle surgery....Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers on Monday he will need all the prayers he can get!
Nicholas and Joey will be at my IL's on Monday well we are at the hospital with my dad, Nicholas also gets his trial walker on Monday (the only good news we've got in a long time!) and will restart therapy on Thursday (his therapist was off for just over two weeks due to jury duty).
Nicholas has been doing good lately though he is having feeding issues AGAIN! so same old same old!
The spasms in his leg are getting worse they are lasting a lot longer then before but for the most part the longer spasms dont seem to be causing as much pain. He goes back to the AFO clinic on Friday due to possitional edema, the spasms, and his up toeing. They will be adding straps to the end of the braces to keep his toes down and will take a look at the swelling to see if there is anything they can do about it (ie pressure stockings).
I will update Monday night or Tuesday to let you know how my dad's surgery went! Thank You for your prayers!
