Well folks, we just passed the second anniversary of Nacho's passing.

On the one hand, two years seems like a long time to me, but on the other hand, it seems like it wasn't long ago that he was here. I miss him as much now as ever.

The big news from us is that we are getting ready to move to Tucson, Ariz. We're leaving Raleigh on July 25.

I'm confident the move to Arizona is the right thing to do. My parents will be there, my sister is next door in California and most of Nacho's family is in Arizona, too. Anna is SO excited to get to see her family on both sides on a regular basis. Plus, whenever we are with the Valenzuelas, we both feel so much closer to Nacho.

Anna is doing great. She's 8 years old now and will be starting third grade in Tucson. She played basketball this year. She loved that. She's spent most of the summer in theater camps and in the swimming pool. She's a happy kid, and I'm so proud of her. Nacho would be over-the-moon if he were here.

I'm OK, too. I'm looking forward to the move, though I will miss my dear friends here. I'm not sure yet what I'll do for work. I'm going to take a couple months off and settle in, decompress and figure out what I want to do. I haven't ruled out continuing my newspaper career, but so far I've found that it is impossible to work in the news department of a paper and be the kind of mother I want to be. So, who knows, maybe I'll do something different.

That's all I have to report for now. Anna and I are making every effort to really dig in, live our lives to the fullest and make sure we have lots of fun. Life's too short to do anything else, right?
