Newest Update

Journal entry by Michael Voss

It has been a while since we've updated, so here is a rundown of what has been going on with baby girl Morgan in the last week. Last Tuesday she had a checkup with our pediatrician, Dr. Harvath. She weighed 9 lbs 14 oz and is gaining weight so fast! She also played with her, testing her neck strength and awareness and had all positive things to say. We were to ask Dr. Harvath about looking into a physical therapist if Morgan's neck and motor skills were lacking, but she suggested that we don't worry about that until our 2 month checkup and reevaluate because Morgan looked great at the doctor. When doing her exercises at home, she has been doing very well! When on her tummy she can move her head from one side to the other very well, displaying good neck strength. She has been reacting well to noises and stimulation and is showing signs of being a normal healthy baby!

Thursday we had a nurse from Children's come to our house again just to check up on her. Everything was good once again, and she weighed 10 lbs 4 oz. She is gaining weight so fast which is great. Just today we had a new occupational therapist come out with a teacher from the local school district. The OT played with Morgan for a while while we went over paperwork with the teacher and Morgan did great! The OT stated shes doing everything a normal baby should be doing, moving her legs and arms on both sides and displaying good neck strength. They will be coming back once a month for her first year of life to keep playing with her and examining her progress.

It is nice to have all these outlets to keep Morgan on the right track. We have enjoyed being at home, spending time with Morgan, and getting into a normal rhythm. I've been able to gradually get back to work a few shifts here and there. Molly will be going back to work mid-October so we are going to enjoy this time at home all together as much as we can. We will be uploading more pictures to the Caring Bridge page. Thank you for following along and your continued prayers!
