My Story

This CaringBridge site has been created to help keep family and friends updated about Miles. A week before Christmas, the pediatrician found a mass growing on Miles' left kidney. Wilms Tumor is a rare kidney cancer generally found in children.

Just got back from a visit with Dr. Hubbard-- no big thing:  Miles just needed to get some shots in preparation to start kindergarten in the fall.  But it was a moment to reflect on how far he's come.  It's been just about 2 years since Miles has been off treatment and about 2 and a half years since Dr. Hubbard diagnosed him.  He's a big kid now -- learning to ride his bike with no training wheels, playing soccer and baseball and basketball -- catching bugs, killing bugs, counting pass 100, and always putting his imagination to work.  He's doing well and runs everybody ragged but he is an absolutely loveable little boy who's handled preschool years and its challenges remarkably well.

Sorry for not updating as often.  Last few visits to the hospital continue to go well.  We like the sound of NED!  Back next month for another set of scans and prepping for a summer of fun.

Hugs to family and friends!  And hope that all the moms had a wonderufl mother's day.
