Hello, hello.  wow it's been a busy summer so far and it's barely even started.  I would like to apologize for not updating this for quite some time.  I've got a lot of things in the works for this summer and they all seem to be going in the right direction.  Since the last time i've written i've been able to try a handful of new equipment and meet with a few different people about some equipment options, there are some pretty high tech gadgets out there.  But, I still haven't found what I need to enable me to moto like I did before.  So what do I do, well I just build my own, yup.  I've designed and built a prototype that I've been using for over a month now (for riding dirtbike) and it has been work way better than I could have imagined.  So well in fact that I have been invited to be a 2009 ESPN Summer X-Games athlete in the adaptive motocross on July 31st in Los Angeles, CA (I just may get a medal yet!).  So that's what I've been so busy with for the last few months.  I am also making the trip to Michigan for the Extremity Games (extremitygames.com) to race motocross on July 11th. I am really looking forward to this to meet all kinds of people living with limb loss and still going after the things they want to do.  So it's back to training mode again.  I've been working with the same trainer I worked with for the last snocross season to get me back into racing condition.  It's been going really well so far, I've been doing a lot of cycling for cardio and I am able to ride way better then I expected.  I'm only about 3.5 mph off my average pace from last year.  Five months ago I thought I was done riding my motocross bike and would not be able to do hardly anything I was used to doing.  But now, I've been invited to the summer x-games, I'm training just the way I did before, I'm talking to people all over the U.S., and I've started the process to patent this new knee I've built.  LIFE IS GOOD. All of these things are possible because I am surounded by the best family and friends anyone can ask for, Prosthetic Laboratories (who got me on my feet again), and I suppose strong determination (or stubborness) to not be slowed down and not give up the things I love doing helps to.  Thank you.  This will be one of the last entries on this site, I am in the process of getting my own web site up and running within the next two weeks (monstermikeschultz.com) that will have all of my events and updates along with some other cool stuff.  Once this site is up I'll let you know and then close out this account.
