Latest Journal Update
Mikel has been holding his own but as most cancer patients experience, his labs (Red blood, white blood and infection fighters) look horrible most weeks now.The doctors explain it like a rubber band, you can only stretch it so many times before it won't snap back anymore. Usually a blood transfusion is required and he is good to go and the doctors are always surprised at how much energy he has, even when his labs are in the sewer.
He has only had 3 slight postponements on treatment due to bad lab levels and I am hopeful that he will have his last treatment before Thanksgiving this year.
Recently Mikel developed staff infection in his feeding tube and had to have it removed. The great news is that he has been eating well with the help of a medication to increase appetite and has maintained his weight for several weeks now!
We are in Rochester once again getting his 30 week MRI and Chest scan. His 15 week MRI showed great results and we have every reason to believe this will be no different. The bad news from his 15 week appointment was that they did not seen any improvement in the blood flow to his right eye and doctors fear this is not likely to improve.
Thank you once again to all of you that have shown us unbelievable support through the last 6 months.
