Michael’s Story
Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We've created it to keep friends and family updated about our little Mikey. Get started by reading the introduction to our website, My Story.

I will be adding to this as I find the time and energy.
Here are some excerpts of communications since this began.

I'm not sure that he is doing so well. He doesn't seem very flu-y, but he won't nurse. He tries but can't latch for some reason. His nose is clear, but he gets the nipple then lets go and cries. I thought maybe he has a sore throat, but he doesn't wince at all when he sneezes.
We've had 3 ER visits in the last 36 hours. He nursed decently last night at the hospital, the first time in 2 days. He has had one scant wet diaper in the last 42 hours. Why won't the doctors help him? I am so upset. I'm waiting for his oncall pediatrician to call back right now.
I'm trying to make sure that I am doing my best for him, though I've only had about 5 hours of sleep since Thursday night.

We were transported to Seattle Children's last night. Prior to us leaving, our local hospital gave him two IV boluses plus a dextrose drip as his blood sugar was only 48. He has had some wet diapers now and is on constant IV for sugar and hydration. Still no nursing.
He had a head CT a little while ago and I am awaiting those results. He is laying on my chest in the Ergo right now, catching up on so much lost sleep. All of these horrible events started right after his first dose of Tamiflu. I discontinued the Tamiflu after his third dose.
I just want my happy healthy baby back. I know he is in there.
