Hello, sorry for not updating for over a month. Things have been busy and Michaela has been doing so well! We are down to once a month visits, which is nice to not be spending so much time at the hospital. In fact, we tried to visit our favorite nurse Carrie on our last visit, and it felt weird to go up to the HOT unit. I hope that I never have to take Michaela up there for a stay ever again!! We did not get to see Nurse Carrie, and it has been so long. I wanted her to see how much hair Michaela has, and how great she looks. I thank God EVERY day for giving Michaela the chance to live a normal life and enjoy her childhood. There are no smiles and no laughter that go unnoticed or unappreciated around here.
Michaela is getting ready to go to a summer camp that is called One Step at a Time, that is just for children with cancer to get away for a week and do lots of great things together. She is going to be bunking with her cancer buddies Corah and Meaghan. It will be a nice trip for her to spend some time with other children who have experienced life with cancer. Even the camp counselors are teen/adult cancer survivors. I know it will be a memorable experience for her.
We have been very busy here working on buying a new house. We are nearing the closing date, which is next week. I am happy to say that we will be buying in the area to stay near family. We are planning to move into a house in Genoa City, WI which is about 15 minutes from Michaela's grandparents house, just past the IL/WI border.
The kids are out of school now for the summer, and they are enjoying their summer spending lots of time outdoors. I barely ever see Brian anymore as he is always out and about on his bike. The kids are looking forward to our new neighborhood and making new friends. I am getting ready to learn how to do some gardening! Michael is still traveling a lot with the Army, and we miss him so much and pray that he will be able to join us very soon in our new home, so that we can all be together where we belong.
Please continue to pray for all of our friends who still struggle with cancer and are still receiving treatment.
God Bless,
Lisa
