My Story

On February 20th, after a week of severe headaches, we discovered that Meredith had a mass in her brain. We would later discover that this mass was a cancerous tumor called a pineal blastoma.

Since then, she has had two brain surgeries, a tracheostomy, a peg tube, and six weeks of radiation. She is doing remarkably well but has a long, long road ahead of her to full recovery.

Good morning.

This will be brief, but positive.

On April 14, Meredith, her parents and I went to Dartmouth to have the latest MRI done on her brain.  As is typical, the IV took some time and the appointment schedule was thrown off, but the doctors were very accommodating.

The news is this: the tumor is not doing anything.  It appears to be inactive and behaving more or less like a benign tumor.  No new treatments are recommended and we will do another MRI in 6 months.

Praise God!

In other news, Meredith's "professional" therapy routine has ended.  This is both good and not-so-good news.  Meredith is very excited to be done with therapies at the hospital.  Doing stuff at home and following through on suggested exercises is the therapy routine for now.  We will have periodic check-ups.

In other news: I will not be getting a motorcycle.  :(
