I can't be on too long because the sheriff has been making the family get our home back in order, and I don't want to be caught off the job! My family has all pulled together and worked very hard this past couple of days trying to get things back to the way I like them. Our yard needed some major work and major cleaning. The storms had killed a few limbs and split them, but they hadn't fallen, so Caleb got up on a ladder and cut them down and then we cut them up and bundled them. He had thought our yard waste wouldn't be picked up today for the holiday, but Rachel saw the truck coming this morning, so she hollered for help and she and Olivia hurried and put everything out. I stood in the house in my pajamas watching them and it was so funny seeing them run and I knew that the men would wait on them because they were so cute.
Olivia cleaned out my pond for me and raked up all the dead small limbs in the backyard and Rachel power washed all of my lawn furniture and cushions and made them look new.
Our transplant coordinator told us that Megan shouldn't do yard work, so she busied herself cleaning the inside of the house. I have to say I was a little shocked seeing her sweeping Rachel's floor. I thought back to all the times that the little girls had picked up her chores while she was too sick to participate. Life is good! This morning, she was even the first one up cleaning the kitchen! Now, she's out having lunch with a friend, and I have to say, this is what I had dreamed of. Megan getting to just have fun with friends like every other girl. There would be so many times that I would see carefree young girls hanging out at the mall and it would hurt so badly inside--I would just long for her to be able to have that. Now, Praise God and our donor family, she does.
Well, we're having a cookout for the fourth and Caleb will undoubtedly buy some fireworks and we'll celebrate the freedom we still have. I hope you all have a great weekend.
Oh, and if I did not thank you for the gifts that you made to our family last year--please don't think I was the rudest person on the earth. I did write thank yous, but Megan was in ICU at the time, and I had come home for one evening and had brought the cards with me and set them on the kitchen table. The bag had all the cards, the list of who I needed to thank and my address book. Well, somehow the bag disappeared and my little girls had no idea where it was. Today, I found it cleaning out the toy chest in the basement!! So, I am going to mail these cards that are almost a year old, and I guess a lot of people are going to be thinking I'm nuts. And if your card didn't come or got lost--please forgive me. Love to all,
