Max Schwolert's Journal
Maxwell Thomas Schwolert is free
Written Dec 29, 2012 8:26pm by Phil SchwolertMax has won the battle over sickness and been freed to live eternally with Jesus. At 7:15pm today, Max's parents and sisters made the difficult and generous decision to remove life support systems and allow his body to end its struggle. The aggressive nature of his illness had depleted his ability to sustain vital organ systems, including brain function.
In our family, we believe in the eternal security of all believers through the salvation of Jesus Christ. So, for his parents and sisters, there was not a question of where he would "go" when his body died. Their priority was to honor Max and to include all present in the close of his life and celebration of the significant mark he made on each of us. That included a service in his room, as well as a sharing time in the hospital chapel. Max was honored, his family was honored, all because God has been honored by them all, both in their lives and in Max's death.
There will be a memorial service in the Minneapolis-St Paul area in the coming week, followed by a funeral in Texas. Details are being arranged and will be posted here as soon as available.
I invite you to share your tributes to Max and his family on this site. Also, please feel free to tell others about Max's death and invite them to participate in this community.
May God bless and keep you and your family,
Peace be with you

Although the medical staff has worked tirelessly to exhaust every treatment option and Max has fought a remarkably brave fight, his condition has worsened still further. His family now faces difficult decisions. Please lift them all up in prayer, that they will have the wisdom and courage to do what is best, as well as confidence that the outcome is in God's sovereign hands. Peace be with you.
