The effects of the CyberKnife treatments are getting worse.  Maxine now uses the wheelchair 100% of the time.  Her left leg hardly moves.  Per our Dr. visit today, these effects may last up to 6 weeks.   I sure hope this is true and she gets the ability to walk even if it’s with my help.

In the Brain Tumor Support Group they talked about doing generic testing on tumors to determine their makeup.   The leader of the group thinks all brain tumors will be tested in a few years.  His office has been doing generic testing on tumors for 8 years.  Maxine didn’t have genetic testing on her tumor.

So we went to see the doctor who does orders generic testing.  Unfortunately, Maxine deteriorated a lot prior to this meeting so I had a lot extra questions.  The doctor is ordering the genetic testing.  He answered all of our questions.  He has ordered an MRI and a PET scan so he can determine the current state of the tumor.

In the past Maxine had a Radiation Oncologist, Medical Oncologist, and a Neurosurgeon each doing their own thing.   But nobody was taking care of Maxine.   This new doctor said when we become his patient, he takes care of things and we should call him with any problems.  I wish we had had him in the past.

CPT-11 and Avastin starts on Monday, an MRI on Tuesday, PET scan on 7/13, Rehab Doctor on 7/16, the new doctor on 7/21 and the CyberKnife doctor on 7/23.  The at home OT and PT visits will be done between these visits.

Have a great 4th of July
