My Story

This is Matt, my husband of 15 years and my best friend.

He is a wonderful, caring husband...a loving, devoted father...a faithful and fun-loving friend.

He loves Star Trek, fishing, baseball, and the Texas Aggies. He is committed to following God and walking in faith as best he can.

And on September 25, 2008, he was diagnosed with Stage III Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

SUCCESSFULLY DEPORTED!

Back in November, Matt was assimilated.  He was implanted with a "power port" which would be used to administer the chemo drugs.  We know it was really a Borg device that would be used to download the intelligence of the collective and speed the process of turning Matt into a Borg drone.

Somehow, despite the dire warnings of "resistance is futile", Matt was able to resist and yesterday was successfully "de-ported."  We continued our tour of the UT-Southwestern medical complex with a visit to yet another professional office building for the "30-minute" procedure.  Actually, the procedure did take only 30 minutes...but between waiting 45 minutes for a 2-minute x-ray,  and 45 minutes for the nurse who would do the procedure it felt a whole lot longer.

It will take a few days for the pain of the incision to subside, and he has dissolvable stitches that will need to heal completely, but the fact that the port is gone is a huge reminder that the cancer is, too.  And though it's nice to see that lumpy bump gone from his chest, it's even nicer to know that God has healed him and restored him to life completely.

Who knew being deported could be such a great thing?
