13th Birthday
Dear Sweet Friends and Family,
What would've been Matthew's 13th Birthday has just passed. Between your thoughtful entries here on CB, Facebook, emails and text messaging (and some wonderful "old fashioned" phone call messages and post office cards ;-}), we felt Matthew's spirit live on.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for remembering and keeping his memory in your hearts, as he will forever be in our hearts as we keep moving through life the best way we can. Thank you for taking the time to share the love. It meant a lot to each of us.
His birthday anniversary is always bittersweet~ a combination of our gratefulness for his short presence here with us, mixed in with such sadness of missing him (always) and wanting him back (that's my personal complaint that I will scream out on these occasions...can you blame me?). I think as every year passes since his passing away, we've gotten a tad bit better with dealing with these anniversaries. But I think my tears will never stop...oh wait...maybe when I'm 95, and/or senile! ;-\
We spent the day doing and eating his favorite things and remembering our favorite memories of him. There were a lot of them. I personally spent some time sharing with Ely the memories of his birth and remembering the tender emotions of bringing him to this world. It always gets us. We wonder what his personality would be like at 13 years old post-leukemia treatment, as well as if he never got the leukemia. Either way, he was an incredibly special boy.
Now, to tackle the holidays....ohhhh, the holidays! While we will remember Matthew and our special holidays together, we are making new memories with sweet Jadon and Meg.
"Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever."
2 Chronicles 20:21
Wishing you love and laughter during these holidays,
Gigi, Ely, Meg, Jadon, and Angel Matthew
