Matthew Pafko's Journal
Written Dec 3, 2013 6:00amCaring Bridge family and friends,The Pafko family is ever expanding. Our new grandson, Lucas Edward Dahlberg, was born November 22nd. He was 23 inches and almost 9 pounds! Everyone waits in line to hold him.We are looking forward to Andrew and Jessica's January wedding at the University of Saint Thomas Chapel. (Andrew's alma mater)"If we only knew how God regards this sacrifice, we would risk our lives to be present at a single mass." Saint Padre Pio"If only I could convince all timid and fearful souls... the greater our need, the more abundant is His infinite mercy and when through our repentance and trust, we give God the opportunity to exercise His mercy, we give Him pleasure. Nothing offends His fatherly heart more than a lack of trust. Count on Him even in all your failures...never be afraid of counting on Him too much." Blessed Dina Belanger"More souls go to Hell because of sins of the flesh than for any other reason." Our Lady of Fatima"I saw souls falling into hell like snowflakes." Saint Therese of Avila"When you see the storm coming, if you seek safety in the firm refuge which is Mary, there will be no danger of your wavering or going down." St. Josemaria EscrivaHail, thou Star of ocean, Portal of the sky! Ever Virgin Mother of the Lord most high..."The field of battle between God and Satan is the human soul. This is where it takes place every moment of our lives. The soul must give free access to our Lord and be completely fortified by Him within every kind of weapon; His light must illuminate it to fight the darkness of error; he must put Jesus Christ, His truth and justice, the shield of faith, the word of God to overcome such powerful enemies. To put Jesus Christ we die to ourselves." St. Padre PioWisdom enters through love, silence, and mortification. It is great wisdom to know how to be silent and look at neither the remarks, nor the deeds, nor the lives of others." St john of the CrossNever be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever. Even if your whole world seems upset." St. Francis de Sales"Without me you can do nothing." John 15:3"Heaven is total joy, continuous joy. We will be constantly thanking God. It is useless to try to figure out exactly what heaven is like, because we can't understand it. But when the veil of this life is taken off, we will understand things in a different way." St Padre Pio"God gives the hardest battles to the strongest soldiers." Pope FrancisJesus is my God,Jesus is my Spouse,Jesus is my life,Jesus is my only Love,Jesus is my all in all;Jesus is my Everything. Blessed Mother TheresaMerry Christmas to all, from the Pafko family
Written Nov 4, 2013 10:19amCaring Bridge family and friends,How Un-Forgiveness Blocks Our Progress"How can anybody say he loves God whom he does not see, if he hates his brother whom he does see? Hatred comes in various forms and the fact we are unwilling to completely forgive anyone for how they have hurt us, is the major reason why God's Grace is blocked and further progress to love as God does is stifled. Our pride and the resulting blindness to our sins, especially this un-forgiveness, is the major reason why so few of us progress in holiness to knowing and loving God with all our heart, mind, and soul. How many times have we unfaithfully said the Our Father prayer, asking God to forgive our sins, while being unable to forgive all who have hurt us in any way? Note God did not put any on forgiving others... so no matter what they did to hurt us, we must forgive them. By begging for this grace...He will allow you to forgive even if it now seems impossible to you. for nothing is impossible to God. Do you not trust Him who created the heavens and earth?Expanded from the insight by Father Ed Broom OMVMother Angelica used to say,"you can't live like the devil then expect to see Saint Peter at the pearly gates."At the evening of life, we shall be judged on our love." -St. John of the Cross"Whoever does not resign himself completely to the will of God will turn here and there, but he will never find peace." Saint Francis de Sales"In a moment, I was in a misty place full of fire in which there was a great crowd of suffering souls... I saw Our Lady visiting the souls in Purgatory.. the souls call her "Star of the Sea." She brings them refreshment. Saint Faustina"Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon them.""Renew your faith by attending Holy Mass. Keep your mind focused on the mystery that is unfolding before your eyes. In your mind's eye transport yourself to Calvary and meditate on the Victim who offers Himself to Divine Justice, paying the price of your redemption."Saint Padre PioDeb has been attending daily mass and group rosary afterwards near the Blessed Mother Mary statue. Postscript from Diary of St. Maria Faustina
One day, I saw two roads. One was broad, covered with sand and flowers, full of joy, music and all sorts of pleasures. People walked along it, dancing and enjoying themselves. They reached the end without realizing it. And at the end of the road there was a horrible precipice; that is,the abyss of hell. The souls fell blindly into it; as they walked, so they fell. And their number was so great that is was impossible to count them. And I saw the other road, or rather path, for it was narrow and strewn with thorns and rocks; and the people who walked along it had tears in their eyes, and all kinds of suffering befell them. Some fell down upon rocks, but stood up immediately and went on. At the end of the road there was a magnificent garden filled with all sorts of happiness, and all these souls entered there. At the very first instant they forgot all their sufferings. (Diary 153)
"Run away from sin and don't look back," said Pope Francis at morning mass.
"Your arms are too short to box with God," Fr. John Corapi
Defend the unborn against abortion even if they persecute you, calumniate you, set traps for you, take you to court or kill you. No child should be deprived of the right to be born, the right to be fed, the right to go to school.- Pope Francis
Virtues are formed be prayer. Prayer preserves temperance. Prayer suppresses anger. Prayer prevents emotions of pride and envy. Prayer draws into the soul the Holy spirit, and raises men to Heaven." --Saint Eprhraim ofSyria
"He that eateth My Flesh, and drinketh of My Blood, hath everlasting life, and I will raise him up in the last day. For My Flesh is meat indeed, and My Blood is drink indeed." (John 6:55-56)
"Don't spend your energies on things that generate worry and anguish. Only one thing is necessary: Lift your spirit and love God." Padre Pio
