Matthew is home!
Written Oct 18, 2012 1:48pmMatthew went home yesterday. His siblings were soo excited to see him they were squealing! Matthew has mixed emotions. He is happy to be home but frustrated with his limitations, pain, and having to take medicine. He was finally able to sleep in bed with mom and dad. Now it's just a matter of taking it one day at a time and follow-up appointments. I added 2 pics- one just before leaving the hospital and one from him home at last.
Matthew goes home tomorrow!!
Written Oct 16, 2012 6:49pmMatthew should be released on Wednesday. Hopefully transition from hospital to home goes smoothly. I am sure his siblings will be thrilled to have him home! He cannot bear any weight on his legs and extra care will be needed for his leg rods which are partially exposed. He will be able to get around a little since he is getting a wheelchair. His neck still has to be immobilized. Now that his iv is out he is enjoying the use of both hands. I added 7 new pics- check them out.
Matthew- one week later
Written Oct 14, 2012 4:38pmMom and Dad have been struggling trying to keep Matthew's spirits up. He is very down and refusing to eat despite all the offerings. Accoring to xrays one of his legs was set perfectly straight so it shouldn't need additional surgeries. We are still waiting to hear how the other one looks. If both legs look good he may be allowed to go home this coming week (with the rods in place still). However, if he continues to refuse food and drink that will be a major setback.
