Make Sure Matthew Is Not Alone This Holiday Season
Your contributions to Matthew's journal this year made sure that they never felt alone. Your tax-deductible donation in Matthew's honor will make sure that Caringbridge continues to bring hope and healing to those who need it most.
Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We've created it to keep friends and family updated about our loved one. Get started by reading the introduction to our website, My Story.

There was an explosion at Tesoro early this morning and Matt was taken to Skagit and then transferred to Harborview.
I just wanted everyone to know that Matt is in critical condition. Matt has burns over 2/3 of his body and a tear in his trachea which has caused a lung to collapse. The next 24 to 48 hours are very critical. If he survives the next 24 to 48 hours he will be here for 60 to 90 days.
I did see him and it was very difficult but he is alive. He is sedated but I believe he can hear us and knows we are here. He moved his arm when I spoke to him.
All of your prayers and support are very appreciated. His family and extended family are all down here and we know his stubbornness will help to get him through this tough time. He has a long road ahead of him.
I will keep you updated when I can. Please continue to check caringbridge for updates on his condition.

Thank you to everyone for all of your prayers and support.
Matt held his own overnight. Amy and Cody went in to see him and the nurse asked him if he knew his family was there to raise his arm and he did. He also opened his eyes a little bit. If things stay the same they anticipate doing surgery on Tuesday to remove the burns on his legs. They also anticipate having to do three surgeries to remove all of the burns. Right now he is holding his own.
Thanks again for all of your prayers and keep them coming.
