Mitch and family- I was thinking of all of you and of Mary at Thanksgiving. Wondering how you were all doing and feeling just a drop of the heaviness of separation from your precious Mary.Your faithful testimony lightens my daily load and Mary's faithfulness brightens my hope for the future. Great is His faithfulness. Thank you for sharing. You are all in my prayers.

Thanks for posting the update Mitch.  I so enjoy hearing how your family is doing.  The baptism videos of Cassie & Emily are priceless.  They are both such beautiful young ladies.  May God continue to watch over your family.

What a testimony of God's faithfulness to your family!  Thanks so much for taking the time to post this. I continue to pray for all of you, especially since the initial "shock" has come and gone.  May the Lord continue to bless you and give you strength for each day!

    Dear Mitch and family,
I learned of Mary's illness through a friend at church several months ago.  Since I learned of May's death I have prayed that you will know His comfort and peace as your live life in a new way until you see her again in heaven.   Thank you for the recent entry and update on your family.  You will be in my prayers in the days and months ahead......may you know the comfort that only He can and does give one day at a time....especially at this time of year when it is even harder when a loved one is missing from your midst.   Peace and blessings to each of you.
    In His grace,

    Mitch,

I was specifically praying for your family this afternoon, so I was very surprised by your update.  Thank you for sharing.  Praise God!

I remember how important the holidays were to Mary.  She cherished putting in all the details.  She taught her girls how to be women of God, and it shows.  She also prepared Phillip to be a man of God.  I'm so proud of both of you, being such great parents and giving all of us the witness of what a good marriage is.  Mary would always say you were her best friend, and I believe you felt the same way about her.  Therefore there is that great grief, that hole that won't ever be filled until you're united in eternity, as you said.  You are very wise.  Praying for extra strength for you during the holidays.

Dear Mitch,Thank you for this update. It is beautifully written, and it helps us pray for you and the family in detail.   I am especially glad for the YouTube link.  I attended the second service the day your girls were baptized and heard about how moving it was. What a blessing it was to be able to see it!

That was a beautifully written letter.  Thank you for sharing your heart and your grief.  The Lord is ever near those who mourn.  Reading this morning from Isaiah and seeing God's tenderness and kindness to the brokenhearted and grieving, His promises are true - He will place a crown of beauty in exchange for ashes; He will pour the oil of gladness instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a faint spirit, that you may be called 'oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord" that He will be glorified through your lives.

Thank you, Mitch for articulating the reality so well. It is learning to live all over again. May the Lord continue to meet each of you in the pain of each new exercise. May the assurance of His love overcome the fear of pain that would cause you to shrink back from your life. Choosing life with you,
    Love,

Thank you, Mitch, for helping us to understand how your family daily life is these days.  It helps me to know how to pray - praying with understanding.

Like I said when we sat with you at the BU concert, I am prompted to pray for you and the kids in the midst of the mundane.  As I go through the same-old-same-old of my days, I am ever reminded that you don't have Mary with you in those same situations.  So I pray for you all when I make dinner, when I clean my kitchen, when I do my laundry, and when I prepare for bed.  May the Lord comfort your hearts with each passing "mundane" moment.

    Love,

I remember standing alone at my sister's grave on one of the early anniversaries of her death and reading that passage out loud. It comforted me.

It was good to see you Sunday.

Mitch....thanks so much for sharing.  It's hard to imagine what you all are going through, but you continue to be sustained by the mighty hand of God and I'm so grateful for the description of how that plays out in your lives.
It's good to be reminded, once again to pray for you all, especially during this holiday season.
    Love,

How nice to hear from you, these are so helpful esp for those 9of us on the "fringes" who know and care and wonder about how you are but are not really closer friends who wu=ould call to ask. ironically i am reading your update from Virginia Piper Breast clinic, i have had two mamgrams that "did not look good" and follow up attempted biopsy and now surgica biopsy they are wonderful at this cinic, allowing today to do 3 step procedure in one day rather than 3, Hawa and Steve and Caleb (9 mo) leave tmorrow for Korea!  50% chance here, will know tomorrow.  Not anxious but prayerful, I'm grateful for the Patty Larsons, Sandra Dziks Molly johnson and Mary Pearsons in life.  My father died at age 52 right before we left for Liberia in 1983 from cancer so we are prayerful but glad we know Him and those who have been examples of knowing Him and facing health crisis.  PT is hard, thanks for sharing -- it helps us know how to pray.  Love, faith
