This site was made for my Aunt who I call MIMI. She is sick and needs prayers and I know this site will help her to get better. Having prayers and people to be there will help my Mimi get better soon. I love you Mimi. xoxo Love, Jasmine.

My name is Marie J Mello. I am 32 years old, and am a Mommy to 3 young children- a 10 year old sweet girl, and boy and girl wonderful twins who are 6 years old. I suffer from Systemic Lupus, Fibromyalgia, and now have Colonic Inertia (slow colon transit time) and Gastroparesis (paralyzed stomach). I also have a very rare bleeding disorder and that could jeapordize my health during surgery to have my colon removed (and possibly my small intestine).

I have fought my whole life- have been abused and conquered 28 years of that, have had a cancerous breast lump removed (suffered terrible healing time and embolisms after the surgery), and thank God for taking Tamoxifen, I conquered that also, have had my appendix removed and had a really long recovery time (most likely due to having hypersensitivity to pain due to the systemic lupus). I have made it through so much in my lifetime, and thought I was on top of the world- Until a few months ago, my "stomach aches" and "attacks" got worse and I started to lose a LOT of weight. I had a hard time eating and realized my skin was turning yellow sometimes...I knew something was wrong. I called my grandparents asking if cancer ran in our family, and my loving grandparents both suffer with it now but didn't want to let me know. I only asked because my GI dr. asked me. I am glad I had that knowledge because he ran lots of tests and they showed that there is something terribly wrong in my colon and stomach, showed I have high liver enzymes and have a nodule on my lung, and other strange symptoms such as pale stools and overall feeling very sick after eating.

I went from being ok, and dealing with my other illnesses, to being practically bed-ridden and laying on my couch every single day. I am in so much pain each day that I can't do the normal daily tasks a normal mother can takes so much effort to simply get up to go to the bathroom, and I dread getting up, because the pain in my entire abdomen is so intense. The pain is a signal that something is very wrong, and so far I have failed most all of my testing that the surgeon has given me. I got referred directly to the surgeon after taking a sitz marker test- the little rings were scattered around my entire colon! When they should have already been expelled.  My GI dr. sent me right out the day of the sitz marker test to the surgeon. Each test I have gotten has been a big fail...showing that my colon is not working anymore, showing that my stomach is not working, and it keeps blocking up on me. I know that my liver is a mess and also know that everything has seemed to stop working anymore, and I am sick about 6 days per week. I got sick really quickly- I used to only have "stomach attacks" of pain and vomiting etc once in awhile- but then suddenly became extremely ill and it was much more than simple constipation that the ER kept sending me home with a diagnosis of.

My surgeon is wonderful and is doing each test known to man to find out what is wrong and I find out tomorrow (2-12-2013) what the results are. I find out what is going on, what is invading my body and causing the blockages, and what is making me so ill.

I am asking for help to pay for a visiting nurse, so that I won't have to stay in the hospital for too long after surgery. I have exhausted ALL options- have reached out to several local agencies and I don't fit the "criteria" to have a visiting nurse, and have to pay out of pocket. I also need help for my dear Niece Jasmine, for a nanny to help her with the children during my extensive hospital stay, because she doesn't drive and may need things during that long stay of mine. Also, prayers....Lots of them. I need to get better and be the Mommy & Auntie I used to be.

Marie J Mello-

Latest Journal Update

Feeling a little better.

I went to the hospital on the 15th and was there from morning until evening. I found out that I have a HUGE blockage from all of the tests- it seemed to have shut my bowels down and I had stools throughout my entire colon, and it was causing me to feel extremely sick and not well.
I have to do SEVERAL enemas and have already done some...I am feeling much better today. I am not as nauseas and finally able to eat a small amount. I still bloat up with swelling and pain when I eat normal foods, but I am doing my best. I don't have much money left for Ensure Plus, so I am having a hard time buying it, but that's ALL that really is able to comfort me and not cause such severe pains.
The hospital wanted to keep me, because I couldn't seem to regulate the pain at all, and was in such distress. I finally got the nerve to attempt to do the enemas myself at home, so that I was more comfortable, and they finally let me leave.
I have been SO nauseas that I haven't been able to log onto my phone or computer at seemed like I would get so dizzy and nauseas that it felt like I was on a tipsy topsy boat! It was horrible. I am so happy to be able to finally log on and let my dear friends know that I am doing better today and not in as much pain and agony.
I have problems with my blood work, that needs to be re-evaluated. I have crazy liver enzymes, have some "iffy" problems with my lymphocytes, my neutrophils and other issues. I noticed I have a new lump in my breast that HURTS really badly, and although I had it checked out a few months ago, it seems to be growing, so I need to get that checked out soon, and just for piece of mind may have it taken out...I am not the "wait and see" kind of girl, not after all I have gone through with my health...I like to be proactive and get the lumps removed before waiting to see if they turn into something worse. I wanted this one out a few months ago, but the surgeon wanted to "see" what happens and now it's growing, so I am ready to get a new breast surgeon and have this removed. I also have a suspicious "lung nodule" which is a small "spot" on my left lung that needs to be re-evaluated soon, so I pray that they aren't linked together and something more than just a regular old "lump"....I would be so disappointed, because since the mammogram in October, I have had constant pain and the swelling in my lymph nodes on that side are NOT going down, they are actually getting worse than previously, so it's time to take control of my body and let it know who's boss! :)
Well, I hope this helps others who have gone through some of the same things, and now know that I WILL get better, no matter what, I will kick these diseases in the behind, and will conquer my illnesses. I am looking forward to being healthy again and not in as much pain. I look forward to the day I am able to just get up and go somewhere and not have to worry about my pain in my stomach happening while out, and ruining my quality time, or worrying about other pain and problems...I know I will feel better after my surgeries.
