My Story

Welcome to Maggie Hebert's CaringBridge site. We are overwhelmed and extremely appreciative of the outpouring of love and support we've received since Maggie's diagnosis and want to keep all our caring friends and family updated on her recovery.

Be sure to read the latest in the journal, view the photo gallery, and drop us a line in the guestbook.

Maggie Hebert is a sweet, fun-loving and caring 10 year old who was breezing through 5th grade at St. Dominic School. She is a conscientious student, wonderful daughter and great sister to Jack and Amelie. During Thanksgiving week 2008, she had a few days where she woke up not feeling well and vomitted. We took her to the pediatrician and had bloodwork done but nothing showed up. She started to feel better and we thought she had a virus. About a week later the vomitting returned and got progressively worse until she was hospitalized on December 13th. A CAT scan showed that she had a tumor in the back of her brain sandwiched between the cerebellum and brain stem. The tumor was removed completely on December 17th but pathology reports confirmed the tumor was malignant and she had medulloblastoma. While in Children's Hospital, she underwent physical, occupational and speech therapy to overcome issues with balance, walking and weakness as a result of the surgery to remove the tumor. Maggie returned home on January 2, 2009 and has started her radiation and chemotherapy to make sure the tumor does not grow back.
