CaringBridge Is Funded by People Like You
Honor MacKenzie with a tax-deductible contribution to CaringBridge today.
People have been asking if we need help and if there is a fund set up they can make donations. A friend set up The MacKenzie's Angel Fund at SunTrust. If you want to make a donation, you can make a donation at any SunTrust location (c/o MacKenzie's Angel Fund) or mail donations to: MacKenzie's Angel Fund c/o SunTrust, 337 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mount Airy, Md 21771
Thank you for following MacKenzie's progress on her website. Keep up to date by reading the journal, but most of all, read the guestbook entries and see how much love and caring there is in the world. Go hug your children, forgive them for not cleaning their rooms, tuck them in, kiss them goodnight, and then go thank God for all the blessings you have in your life.
MacKenzie is a bright, happy, energetic 8-year old. A few months ago, she started experiencing random vomiting (5-6 times in 6 months) with mild headaches. She complained of no other symptoms. During our Thanksgiving vacation to Myrtle Beach last week, she vomited three times, with no other symptoms. On Wednesday and Thursday, November 30/ December 1, she appeared to have slightly slurred speech and a slight stumble while walking. We took her into her pediatrician on Friday to talk and investigate. Her appointment was at noon. By 2:00PM she was having an MRI. By 6:00PM we were at Hopkins with a large brain tumor. On Saturday, December 3rd, she underwent an 8 hour procedure to remove the tumor. Her doctor is the WORLD'S BEST at this, Dr. Benjamin Carson! He was able to remove the gross tumor and feels (pathology still pending) that it is malignant. We have a lot more to learn, and a lot of plans to make. As we hear and learn more, we will update our website so you can be current on what we know. Please pray for MacKenzie, her doctors, her nurses, and our family.
