I had my six month checkup with the dentist today. Got to suck down LOTS of fun gas! LOL....no cavities but was told my gums have receded QUITE a bit from the last six month checkup. That's not good because they won't regenerate. She gave me a super soft toothybrush, showed me how to loosen my death-grip on the brush and then sent me packing. At least it didn't cost me anything! And the gas was fun! hehe.... I have decided that (with Dr. Lange's approval) to celebrate my one-year anniversary of my MOAS by donating blood to the American Red Cross. They had old guidelines that stated you had to be cancer free for five years to donate! They recently changed it to one year with no recurrences or chemo. Hopefully I will meet both requirements on 9/10/08! I will check with Dr. Lange and make sure it's ok first. I have to start compiling my list of 80 questions to take with me to my appointment on 8/26/08. I am really nervous about it. I would love to hear her say the words "it was nice knowing you, now go out there and live life" but I don't think I will ever hear those words (given the sneaky type of cancer I had)...I think follow-up will last a lifetime, unfortunately. I guess I'd better keep searching for that "new normal" I keep hearing about.....
