Happy Father's Day! Most fathers will say that this day pales in comparison to Mother's Day. I guess we tend to think of mothers as the sentimental ones and fathers as the stoic ones.
In most of my updates, I speak of Heather's time with the doctors, and Heather's time with the boys. I have said over and over that she is a wonderful mom to do all that she does for Lukas and for Theron. It seems that with most critically ill children, the primary caregiver tends to be the mother.
I think that what is not said is that the fathers are usually the ones who carry the other loads so that the mothers are freed up, even a little bit, to care for these children. The reason my updates usually mention Heather is that Kurt is working to support them. He is there for the "important" visits - the times that the doctors have concerns. Otherwise, he waits for Heather to let him know how things are going. Kurt would be at every visit if he could. His sacrifice for the family is his choice to keep working, even when his heart is with his son. Kurt is a great dad to his sons, and he loves them to the moon and back!
I am a Daddy's girl, and will be till God calls me home. I am so thankful that my dad is still here with his family. We all spent today over at my parents' house, eating hamburgers and watching the kids play. Life can't be much sweeter!
Thank you, God, for fathers. Fathers are the backbone to our families. They are the strength that holds us together and the tender arms that wrap around us. Thank you, also, for being our Father. You are the role model to fathers, and teach them how to love their families as You love us. I love you, Daddy!
