Wow~~almost 2 months since an update.  Aren't we the most sorry of correspondents???  As they say, no news is good news and fortunately we have not had any bad news where Lukeman is concerned!!  He tolerated the Botox injections that he had in May very well with no complications....thank God!

Lucas just finished a 2-week visit to Georgia.  PJ and I picked him up on June 8th and as I type, Daddy & PJ are on the way to deliver Lukeman back to Mommy.  He tolerated the trip up with one little blip.  About 45 minutes from arriving at Daddy & PJ's, he got an upset tummy.  After a stop to get him cleaned up and comfortable, we were back on the road and everything was ok from that point.

Most of our time was spent relaxing at home...reading, watching movies and resting.  The weather has been so unbearably hot, even for Georgia, that we weren't able to venture out.  However, we did get to take Lucas to my brother and sister-in-law's house (Dee & Terri) for the weekend.  We had a huge family gathering and fish fry to celebrate my mom's (Granny's) 75th birthday.  Everyone was happy to get to see Lucas and he even got to meet yet another branch from Neecie and PJ's family tree...my cousin Dwight and his wife Karen.  On Saturday evening, after the temperature had cooled a little, Lucas got to go fishing and wound up outfishing everyone by catching 3 bass!!  Lucas felt well most of the 2 weeks.  With the exception of the spine curvature seeming a little worse, he looks to be maintaining for the time being.  He did seem to sleep a little more than he normally does when he's with us, not sure if it was the heat, his maybe feeling a little off kilter, or disease progression.  I'm praying it was the effects of the heat...we'll see.  He also woke up early yesterday morning (I spent Thursday night with PJ and Lukeman since Daddy was out of town) and was crying with some discomfort.  As PJ was holding and rocking him, trying to get to the root of his discomfort, he would try to smile as she and I talked to him.  It was so heartwrenching to watch him suffer and not know what to do for him.  I've raised two children and went through the *normal* childhood illnesses and injuries, but never have I experienced such a heartbreaking and helpless feeling as I did with Lucas...he is so precious and sweet that you just can't stand for anything to make him unhappy.  And through it all, he continues to be such an inspiration with his courage and determination to live life to the fullest, while bringing so much joy to those around him.  God has truly blessed us by bringing this sweet boy into our lives.  I have no idea who our heroes were before he joined our family...I do know that they were no where close to being worthy of our admiration as is Lucas!!!

Lucas' next visit will be July 12th, when Daddy and PJ pick him up to join us for a week at the beach in Gulf Shores.  If last year was any indication, we will have a blast with our boy.  Please pray that he continues to maintain and will feel up to enjoying some time in the water.  We are so looking forward to it.  We thank you for your continued prayers and well wishes for our sweet Lukeman.

Anxiously waiting for July 12th,
Neecie

ps--there are a few more pics from the great fishing expedition on the photo page....enjoy!
