Logan Scott Heller was born on May 20, 2005. He came into this world a beautiful healthy blonde haired, blue-eyed baby boy. From the day he was born he always held his little hands together across his chest as if he were praying. We all thought it was precious. We had no idea that anything was wrong with our baby.

Well, we have much to post. Logan is healing up quite well from his surgery. It was a rough couple of weeks, but he is doing much better now. The doctors wanted us to wait eight weeks after the surgery to bring him back in for a sleep study and either treat the sleep apnea with a breathing machine or hopefully the surgery will have corrected it. I have had a hysterectomy scheduled and cancelled twice this past year because I never had a gap of down time with Logan and his doctor visits, tests, med changes, etc. So, I thought Great! I have an eight week window of opportunity. My surgery was this past Tuesday, and I had explained to my doctor my situation with Logan and the heavy lifting, and how I needed him to be aware of that. The plans were for a laproscopic hysterectomy and most people are able to go back to work after a week or so. Well, as it would figure, once the doc got "in there" he said it was a mess and that they had to open me up. My organs were cemented together and he had to dissect them apart from each other. A normal hysterctomy might take 45 min to an hour and mine was over 4 hours long. As most of you know I have been in and out of the surgery room from a young age, and this hysterctomy hurt almost as bad as my cancer surgery. Almost. I really wanted someone to put me out of my misery. The good news is that all of the tests came back benign (no cancer)! The bad news is that I am going to be laid up for the next 4-6 weeks. Mom, Grannie, and Leon came yesterday and helped me get home from the hospital and they have been cooking all day. My grannie, God lover her, rubbed my feet and hands with lotion while I was in the hospital, just like she did when I was ten years old. One of Logan's nurses who happened to be off the days of my surgery stayed at the hospital with me and got me through the unbearable nights. Randall's mom sat with me during the days until my folks got here. Lillie will be going back to Lubbock with my mom and grannie for the next month or so. Logan is staying with one of his nurses at her house. This woman is amazing! Her name is Marty and she and her husband are foster parents to two special needs children. She has offered to keep Logan until I recover. Now I know you are thinking, "gosh, I wish there was something I could do to help" and THERE IS!!! When I was in the hospital, Randall brought me a scratch off lottery ticket. It sat on the window sill for several days until the day I was leaving. I NEVER win these dang things, but when we go on long road trips to the hospitals or back home to Lubbock I always grab a couple for fun on the road. Anyway.....I scratched it of and would you believe it won two hundred dollars! I knew immediately that there was a reason for this. I gave the ticket to Logan's nurse that stayed with me for those three nights. She deserved it and she was blessed by it. That gave me the idea to do something to bless Logan's other nurse who is keeping him in her home 24 hours a day until I am healed up. I told her that we afford to couldn't pay her for that kind of care, and she said that she wanted to bless us and help us get through this hard time. No one was expecting my surgery to be as invasive and complicated as it turned out to be. So, if you want to bless an amazing woman and her family for helping us with Logan, Please send her a "thank-you"? card with maybe $5 or $ 10 bucks in it. whatever you can spare. I know the economy is bad right now and we are all struggling, but just think how if everyone who logs onto Logan's website sent a little, it would end up really blessing a family who is making it possible for us to survive right now. God will bless you back! Who knows, maybe you have a winning lottery ticket you haven't cashed in yet;) I don't think Marty would want me to post her personal address on the internet, so if you would just send the thank you's to Logan's PO Box and make sure you put it to ATTN: Marty and I will give them to her. Just a little bit could do alot for these amazing people. Marthy broght Logan by the house today so that I could see him. He looks so handsome and happy. She said he has a favorite toy and that he has gotton his appetite back. Unfortunately, he is only sleeping about 4 hours a night, so I will be trying to call his doctor on Monday. We had tried him on Melatonin, but maybe he is going to have to try something else. Thank you all for your love and support. Thank you to everyone who is helping us in our time of need. We appreciate the flowers, food, and prayers!
