First, the baby news....I had an amnio 2 weeks ago as a precautious effort to check on the health of the baby. After all, at 36 I am considered "advanced maternal age" HA! We received our good news on Monday. We are having a healthy baby boy in August! All of the children are excited, and Lindsey has realized that she will now be a BIG sister! I'll have to find her one of those t-shirts to wear to the hospital that say "I'm the big sister".
Being that our children are older, this pregnancy has stirred many questions...you can only imagine the things that a 6 year old boy will ask?!?! I have done my best to remain age appropriate while being honest and open about the facts of life. But, I think the hardest questions I have faced from them have been the ones that deal with cancer...."will this baby be born with cancer too?" I really don't want them to worry. I mean how many children worry about these things for their future brother? I'm very emotional at this stage in my life and this just breaks my heart. I have been as reassuring as I can, but the truth is I worry about it too. Worry myself to tears. I have had alot of sleepless nights fighting back the fear, praying over the health of this baby, and reliving some of the painful moments that have left scars on my heart. God, spare us. Continue to cover us in Your mercy and grace. Hold this mother's heart gently in Your hands and touch this little boy's body as he grows and develops safely.
Now, onto Lindsey's Little Miracles. Our official date for the event is October 10, 2009. We are 6 months away! I wanted to let you know about an opportunity to help us raise money for the fund. It costs you NOTHING! I saw this on another child's journal as a venue they were using to raise $ for their cause. I checked it out, used it and LLM received a $15 check in the mail at no cost to me!! It's called Igive.com & it's simple and easy to use. Here is some additional info:
SELECT your favorite cause. Register with iGive and SHOP at brand name online stores through the iGive Mall. A portion of each purchase is donated to your cause. SAVE money with exclusive coupons/free shipping deals. Plus, when you shop within 45 days of registering we’ll donate an extra $5 to your cause!
Over 700 stores participate in our donation program, including eBay, Lands' End, Staples, JCPenney, Barnes & Noble, Overstock.com, Toys R Us, drugstore.com, Office Depot, QVC, Expedia, Home Depot, HSN, Best Buy, Drs. Foster & Smith, Gap, Buy.com, & NORDSTROM.
As an iGive shopper, you have access to exclusive coupon codes, free shipping deals, and sale alerts. In other words, iGive is more than just shopping for a cause – we’re actively seeking out the best deals to help save you money.
You simply log onto their site (Igive.com), go to step 1 Find & Select Your Cause (look under SC, Children/Youth and use keyword Lindsey). Then go to step 2 to register yourself as one of our supporters. From there you can use the supplied link to add Igive to your toolbar. Then everytime you shop online you go through the igive icon and the donations will automatically be mailed to us! We have used the Toys R Us link and Office Depot. I ordered a total of $100 from those 2 stores and LLM received $15 in donations. No extra money came out of my pocket...the donation came strictly from igive.
Try it out....use it at home, use it at your office for ordering supplies...watch how much money starts coming our way. The other cause I saw this on raised close to $6,000 in one year from it's supporters!
Thanks for your help!!
