Mike Scott's Journal
No news is good news
Written Feb 10, 2013 2:42pm by Gordon McDonnellSorry for the lack of updates but Mike's progress has been, well, kind of boring. He continues to heal and pass new milestones. Just in the last week Mike stopped use of all pain medication, started driving, and even went into work for a meeting. Starting tomorrow he will resume working for a few hours every morning. So all in all, everything is really positive. Next stop - world's strongest man competition.
Contributing to the very positive vibe, little Harper continues to grow and deliver tons of smiles. Already Mike has taught Harper how to sit, lie down, and stay...at least for a few seconds. We all think they got a special puppy.
While the process has become a little monotonous for us on the outside looking in, let's not forget that the road to full recovery is still long and full of a lot of work. So please keep the positive thoughts and prayers coming as I know Mike and the entire family really appreciate the support and feed off the positive energy.
On The Mend

I am happy to report that things are looking up these past couple of days. I have been able to move around more, stay awake more hours, and even was able to attend Connor's basketball game.
We have so appreciated all of the visits, cards, emails, texts, phone calls, and meals. All of these have made a huge difference this past week.
Thanks again for all of your support!
There's no place like home
Written Jan 26, 2013 4:42pm by Gordon McDonnellBeing home continues to serve Mike well. Mike reports another good day full of walking, eating, movie watching and puppy training. Most importantly, today marks the first time he has put two back-to-back positive days together - up until now a challenge in this two-steps-forward-one-step back process. The doctors and nurses have been telling him all along that once he starts to get his appetite and energy back he will enjoy an exponential improvement in overall feeling. Cross your fingers that he has reached that point.
Next on Mike's horizon is his plan of going to Connor's game Tuesday night at TuHS. For those of us in the Timberwolf basketball family we can't wait to get our team photographer/videographer/#1 fan back in the stands.
Finally, today also marked the official naming of the new puppy: those who voted for HARPER should share virtual high-fives with one another.
