Wow has it been a long time since I have signed on to update everyone on Levi. Since Levi got out of the hospital at the end of January it's been a bit of a roller coaster ride. He got the new feeding tube and a week after the new one was put in it started causing him severe pain so it had to be changed (a much easier change than the 1st time), several days after that Levi almost ended up back in the hospital because the UTI never went away and we were able to talk the docs into letting us do IV drugs at home which was a huge relief to the docs, Levi and everyone else. So I was hooking Levi up to IV drugs once a day for a week. It finally went away after that 4th round of drugs. Then we had a few bouts of viral/flu kind of junk. And as of last Monday we found out that Levi has another UTI and has now started his 2nd round of antibiotics. After this clears up he is starting on a drug that is supposed to prevent UTIs and hopefully we can put all of this behind us.
As always though, Levi trucked right through the infections and kept insisting on going to therapy. In one instance he had a fever of 100 + degrees and I had to over rule him. He sure does have a lot of will and determination. Therapy is continuing to go very well. He is doing the standing frame at the hospital every Monday and has worked up to 30-40 minutes at a time. When he first started doing it he could only go about 10 minutes. I think if the therapists would let him, he would stand in the thing all day.
We have also made it through his 30th birthday (March 23), which he will only acknowledge as his 28th. He said he is going to stay 28 until he is better. And on March 26, he had been out of the hospital for a year. He wasn't thrilled with us acknowledging the date because he hasn't progressed as far as he had planned but we pointed out all of the things he is able to do now that he wasn't able to do a year ago. I don't think Levi was all that impressed but he made it through the day. Sunday is our 2nd wedding anniversary and my hope is that Levi doesn't get too upset. He has not enjoyed these last few milestones much.
Now that the weather is nice Levi has been able to get out and practice with his power chair a little more. We have had a few electronic issues but hopefully all of the bugs have been taken care of and it will be smooth sailing from here on out. I won't let him drive the chair in the house but he has free reign of the cul-de-sac and really enjoys driving it.
