My Story

Wed., 11/5 at about 8:30 pm Lawrence fell and hit his head. The cause of this is unknown, as all tests have come back with no probable cause. The fall resulted in serious head trauma. His wife, Beth, is with him and he is surrounded by family. As milestones develop, or plans to help the family formulate, we will report details here.

Hi everyone..

Just a quick update...Lawrence has been re-admitted to Neuro-rehab at UCLA and is doing great. Yesterday we got to go outdoors in a wheelchair WITHOUT a helmet on for the first time, and today was a HUGE day as they finally removed the trach! No more breathing tube! He is doing great, and looks amazing. They are planning on doing a swallow evaluation on Monday, and if all goes well (which they think it should by what they see so far), the re-introduction of REAL FOOD will be happening soon. Once he gets to really start eating again, the feeding tube will be removed from his abdomen, and he will be totally off all assistance. Right now, the only stressor is that Blue Shield has only approved a week here right now, and based on Lawrence's progress, if they do not see improvement to their standards, they will stop approving his stay here. So, please say your prayers that Lawrence will skyrocket through the week and get the opportunity to stay here at One West.

Hope you like the picture...its a beautiful day here in Westwood, and I had the chance to take Lawrence outside for a nice long walk, and he looked so great without his helmet and his trach , that we posed for a little snapshot by the garden. Does he not look amazing? How far we have come, thanks to all of YOUR prayers and love!

Love to all of you...stay FONGSTRONG!

Beth
