Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We created the site in order to have an efficient way to update friends and family on Lexy's progress.
Be sure to read the latest in the journal, view the photo gallery, and drop us a line in the guestbook.
To be honest, we are still in shock from what transpired on Friday. Lexy has been having chest pains for the past 10 days. It seemed muscular so we didn't worry too much about it. The pain became worse, so on Friday night we went to the Meriter ER. The news the doctor delivered to us at 11:00 PM at night was, to say the least, shocking. Lexy has a 5 by 6 by 7 cm mass in her chest. The mass is located in the mediastinum. So, the good news is it is not lung cancer. The most likely scenario is that Lexy has a cancer called lymphoma. There are many different forms of lymphoma. At this point, the doctors are leaning towards Hodgkins lymphoma, which is extremely treatable. Lexy will have a biopsy on Monday morning. The biopsy will confirm the diagnosis and determine the type of lymphoma.
We are anxious, scared, but hopeful. We both feel fortunate that we are well connected at the UW, which means we have mobolized a number of resources.
